Hi Randal, how are you today? You’ve been busy with music recently. Can you tell us what you’ve been up to over the past few months?

I’ve been doing great! Over the past few months, I have been writing more music and generally trying to improve myself, from vocals to musical instruments. I feel that there is still room for improvement and I should be constantly trying to improve myself.

Where did your love of music come from?

I started singing at the age of 9 with a group of friends. I remembered that they told me they enjoyed my singing! It filled and still fills me with joy knowing that other people enjoyed hearing me sing and I have always loved entertaining those around me from a young age, be it by singing or acting.

Your debut single was “Talk About It” can you tell us what the track is about?

“Talk About It” is all about the importance of communication when going through an argument in a relationship.

It was released on the 4 January 2018, how was it releasing your very first single?

I was nervous but mostly excited as it is my first single, something that I could call my own! It has always been my dream to produce music to share with the world and now I finally had the opportunity to do it. Initially, I was really nervous as I didn’t know how people would react to it. My nervousness was in vain, as there was generally positive feedback across the board by those around me like my family and friends.

What does the song mean to you?

To me, this song is about sharing our problems with others and not keeping it bottled up, as it can be quite detrimental to our mental health. This song is a reminder to everyone out there to communicate what we are thinking to others as the other party is not a mind-reader. We have to “Talk About It”

Do you have a favourite lyric from the track?

“Cause these walls here between us will only crumble when you speak the words. ” This lyric to me, is a reminder that only when we talk about our issues, tensions will ease.

Then there’s the soon-to-be-released follow-up second single “Save Me From Myself”, where did the inspiration behind this song come from?

“Save Me From Myself” is a call for help from someone going through depression. I was inspired to write this song as I feel that it is very important for people to understand the feelings and thoughts of a person going through depression.

It’s such an emotional song, what’s the story behind it?

While I was still in school, I was going through an emotion turmoil in my social life. Because of this, I began keeping to myself and not sharing any of my problems with anybody. After recovering from that stage, I decided to write a song based on what I had just experienced. And hence, “Save Me From Myself” was born.

Have you got a favourite lyric from this track too?

My favourite lyric comes from the chorus. “I need love and I need help.” I believe these are 2 of the most important things a person going through a rough period needs.

It was released on 24 February 2018, any particular reason for the long wait?

24 February is my sister’s birthday and I wanted it to be released on this special day.

Can you use five words to describe this song?

Depression, Sadness, Loneliness, Therapy and Recovery.

What do you hope to achieve with your music?

I hope to bring joy to my audiences as well as raise awareness of current events through my music. I hope to also inspire young people to follow their dreams and not give up when met with an obstacle. Teenagers must realise that they must be hungry to succeed. Hungry in the sense that they work hard to reach their goals.

Do you plan to release music videos for the songs? If not, then imagine you were to create music videos for your two songs, what would we be watching?

I’d like to imagine “Talk About It” as a video in a 1st person view walking down a street. I think it’s cool that it gives the audience a chance to feel like they are part the video.

As for “Save Me From Myself”, I imagine that the video starts with a dark and cloudy scene and as the song progresses, the scene would start to clear up to reveal a brighter and lighter image.

You’ve released a few covers on your YouTube Channel, which has been your favourite to-date?

I don’t have a favourite, I love all of them. They are a reminder to me when I first began recording myself.

What are your top five songs to listen to at the moment?

Perfect- Ed Sheeran
Hold me tight or don’t- Fall Out Boy
Lonely Together- Avicci ft. Rita Ora
Naked- James Arthur
Let Me go- Hailee Steinfeld

2018 has just started and you’ve already released your debut single and you have a second one to follow, what else can we expect from you, this year?
