Hey Nick! We are so excited to be premiering your new single “Don’t”. How excited are you that this song is finally out into the world?
Hey! I’d like to thank you for premiering my single this is a huge step for my team and I. I’m stoked for the “Don’t” to be released because of all of the changes that the songs been through. This was one of the first songs I wrote but I didn’t want to release it until I felt it was fully done. It’s almost as if as I matured and experienced life the song developed with me.
Where did the inspiration for the song come from?
I can’t really say that the inspiration came from a single place or person. “Don’t” was a compilation of moments I lived or my friends lived and I experienced. It’s base is how two people act when their love interest starts playing games.
Any fun moments while creating/recording the song?
Yes, I have some pretty good pipes but some of the parts in the song took a while to record because of the vocal technique. The hook in particular took me forever to record because I couldn’t roll the words correctly. I ended up having to slap my throat every time the roll occurred to get the right sound. My manager and producer died of laughter every time they saw me trying to hit myself in order to get the right sound.
What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?
I hope that all of my supporters can relate to “Don’t” as much as I did. I hope that if anyone is going through a situation where their love interest is playing games with them, that they can just say “don’t” because you’re getting played bro.
What’s the process of writing one of your songs?
It always starts off with a melody, I feel something or hear something. By the time I get a chord progression down the lyrics and everything else comes naturally.
Where did your love of music come from?
Music runs in my blood, I come from a line of musicians. I’ve had music all around me because of my family, my grandpa is actually in the music hall of fame in Colombia for salsa. I started playing piano when I was 4 and fell in love with it. Now I also get to love how people can relate to my music.
Will there be a music video for your new single?
Yes the video is currently in the works and is planned to be released later this fall. We are working with an insane videographer who goes by the name of DFLO.
Any other fun projects in the works you can tell us about?
I have a couple of singles coming out in the next few months and an EP in the works for late spring. I’m focusing a lot of my music right now and on getting content out for my people.
Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?
It’s been an unreal journey so far. I’m very excited for whats coming and I hope you are too. Thank you so much for all of the support, I love all of you.
