Savannah Judy is an actress, singer/songwriter, and half of the Indie Rock Duo Duplexity. The band, formed with brother Luke Judy, just debuted their first EP Billboards. Thank you, Savannah, for taking time for this amazing TMI Interview!

Welcome to TMI Savannah – we are thrilled to talk with you today. Congrats on the upcoming release of your new EP, Billboards. But before you spill the tea on the new record, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Thanks! I’m an artistic actress and musician who likes to draw and do makeup! I love to sing and play bass and I’m Duplexity’s bassist!

You are a multi-hyphenate talent in the entertainment industry. Out of all the things you do, from acting to music, which is your most favored?

I love all aspects of the entertainment industry but if I had to choose which is my favorite it is probably writing songs and playing music! Acting is definitely a big part of my life and a strong passion, but music really speaks to me and is part of who I am.

What was your inspiration behind the new single?

Luke takes the lead on ‘Demons’. It is inspired by the idea of shining a light on the times in your life when you are facing an emotional struggle instead of ignoring what you are going through. Hoping that people will realize that acknowledging these times and talking about difficult feelings and emotions will help overcome them. My part in the song is small, I sing back up and play bass. I really love performing this song, it’s a deep song and on stage you can feel the connection to the audience.

What made you decide to release a song?

Luke and I decided to release songs because we always wanted to create original music. We formed our band earlier this year and decided to make music soon after we started. I have wanted to break into the music industry since I was about 12 years old, and I performed live on stage at The Mint for the first time. It was after that first song that I was hooked! I told my mom “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life!”

Can you share some of your favorite lyrics in the song?

I think Demons is a brilliantly written song both lyrically and musically. Luke and our team did such an amazing job on this song. My favorite verse in the song is “Stuck inside an ambience, a pressure filled with anger, everything I do is better looking down on paper, the voices confiding in my head I’m feeling safer” it really stirs up a lot of emotions and feelings when I hear that verse!

What is your writing process when making new music?

For me the writing process is never the same. It depends on if I am doing a song collaboratively or alone. If I am writing a song alone, I always start with the original spark of inspiration to form the concept, then I usually work on the lyrics, then the melody.

Do you have specific “go to” instruments you like to use in your songs?

I love all instruments and want to always incorporate as many as we can in our music. The core instruments for our first EP are definitely Guitar, drums, and bass. The classic core rock instruments.

What do you hope fans feel after hearing the new record?

I hope fans feel like they are really connected to the album and want to listen to it over and over again! We hope that especially young people will feel like they matter and have a voice!

Can you tell us 5 fun things most people don’t know about you?

3. I’m a huge metal fan and my favorite bands are Slipknot, Pantera, and Tool
