Hi Violet! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us today!

Of course! Thanks for having me!

Do you have a new attitude for 2021?

Most definitely. I’ve had all this time to really focus on my career this year, so I’m ready to put it into action in 2021.

What music played in your home growing up? Does that influence the music you create now?

Lots of ’70s rock, blues, and soul. My parents were musicians, so they really influenced my love of music. I definitely think even though I am singing pop music there is that touch of soul that you can hear in my voice from all the music of my childhood.

What does “me time” mean for you?

I LOVE cooking. It’s a big hobby of mine. So if I’m ever wanting to just be by myself and unwind, I’ll turn on a jazz radio station and start whipping something up. I don’t know what it is, but cooking is just so relaxing to me.

What is the hardest aspect of songwriting?

I draw my songs from my real life so the process of creating the song isn’t necessarily the hardest part. The hardest part is putting the song out into the world for everyone to hear, and judge. The sheer fact that you’re being vulnerable with strangers is kind of terrifying. But you never know who might be going through a similar situation and that’s what makes it worth it – making people feel understood and seen.

100 years from now, how do you want to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as someone who really cared; someone who loved the people around her so hard and so fiercely. I want people to see my story and be encouraged to keep going even when life feels so incredibly hard sometimes because that’s what I’ve been doing. There are so many times where I’ve thrown up my hands and said, “God, I should just quit.” And I’m glad I didn’t because then I wouldn’t be where I am right now in this season of life. Smarter people than me have said that “If you haven’t tried to quit a million times, you’re not doing it right.” And that’s all I want really – for people to remember that I loved people and never gave up. Maybe I’ll inspire others to do the same.
