Hey Kjersti! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single “Not Your Princess”! How excited are you that this song is finally out into the world?

Beyond excited!! Actually, don’t think that there is a word that describes how excited I am.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I really hope they enjoy the melody and the story behind the song. I hope that it inspires people to be who they want to be.

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

Yeah, I wrote this song from real experience. My dad calls me princess a lot, so I went up and told him that I didn’t like being called that, and he told me to write a song about it. (He always says that.) Then, later that day, I ran into my teacher and she called out, “There’s my little princess,” and I told her, “I’m not your princess.”

You also have more music coming out in 2020!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?!?

We have a lot of songs recorded, but for sure we’ll be releasing a cover of a Beatles song, that I arranged, sometime soon. As well as maybe a tour coming up in the summer 2021.

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

Yeah, I write most of my songs, and the songs that I don’t write, my dad writes. Usually I give my dad an idea, and then he comes up with the instrumental side and I write lyrics, and he adds on with more lyrics.

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It feels really incredible. It seriously is awesome.

Where did your love of music come from?

My love for music came from grandma and my dad. For my grandma’s birthday I sang a rock cover, and I loved it so much that I decided to sing more.

Will there be a music video for your new single? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video.

Yeah, we actually recorded one before quarantine. So it kind of plays along with the lyrics, but it’s like through the day I’m writing the song, and then at the end of the day I perform it at a music venue. We used a lot of different locations, my favorite being the horse farm, with the little filly they had.

What’s been the pros and cons of pursuing your music career?

Pro: It’s an amazing opportunity to work with all the wonderful people that help me along the way, just getting to share my passion with other people.

Cons: There aren’t many, except the amount of practice involved, but I love doing that as well.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

Just my family and my manager. They’ve all been so supportive and helpful.

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

I’m not quite sure about this question. I’ve never thought about it before. I don’t think there’s anything that makes them different. Every fan is supportive and loving.

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

Supportive, kind, and understanding.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want them to know that they are loved for who they are.

Are you planning any IG Live shows to promote your new music?

I’ve never really thought about doing IG live, but I think it would be fun.

What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!

Live music is my absolute favorite thing in the entire world. The electricity I feel on stage is incredible and I want to share it with everyone.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

That you should always be yourself you don’t need to change for anyone.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

A lot of my fans don’t know how book-crazy I am. I absolutely love to read. My dad makes jokes about how the only thing I ever do in life is sing and read. My favorite book is The Hunger Games. I am such a huge fan of them. But I’ll basically read anything.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Everything. Without them, I wouldn’t have accomplished anything.

What do your fans call themselves? And How did that fanbase name catch on?

I don’t think my fan base has a name. I’ll have to think of one.

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you! Have you ever been starstruck?

I’m starstruck all the time. Whenever I see someone perform, whether it’s singing, acting, or dancing, I always think it’s incredible.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

I want them to know that I appreciate them so much and that I couldn’t do any of this without them.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Meeting anyone famous would be awesome. Any rock bands or big musicians would be incredible. I also am a huge Marvel fan, so meeting any of the Marvel actors would be cool too.

What’s your current go-to song?

I’m not really sure. I listen to a variety of songs and I love them all. If I had to choose, it would probably be “Numb/encore”  Linkin Park and Jay-Z. But that’s just one of millions.

Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?

Social media helps artists get out there in the world and build their fan base. It’s been really helpful for me. A lot of my fans discovered me from Insta and other social media apps.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

My biggest goal is to get my music to touch as many people as possible, and to help them get through life.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

That they should read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (jk). That they should follow their dreams and never let anyone shoot them down.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂

Thank you!
