Fear not, high school singles: For the first time in history, your state of datelessness to the prom has officially earned you the teen world’s upper hand.

To celebrate the time-honored tradition of renting limos, crowning kings and queens and struggling to properly affix your date’s boutonniere to his rented tux’s lapel, MTV is throwing a big ol’ TV-and-social-media bash — “Promposal Mania” — and the party’s wasting no time diving into its main event: helping one viewer land an Austin Mahone prom experience. Not too shabby, huh?

Starting today, viewers can plead their cases as to why they’d make great prom company for the pop star by submitting Promposal videos via Twitter, Vine or Instagram with the hashtag #PromposalMania (official rules and restrictions can be found here). On Monday, April 20 from 8 until 11 p.m., Mahone will sort through the submissions during live hits on MTV and will broadcast the deliberations across MTV’s Periscope and Twitter accounts. By the night’s end, Mahone will have accepted one Promposal that stands above the rest, and one fan’s fantasy date will officially begin. Plus, did we mention the musician will make his choice LIVE on MTV?!

And that’s just where the fun begins…

On April 21, supergroup Fifth Harmony will help another lucky high school-er arrange the perfect date by prepping the Harmonizer in question to prompose to his or her crush in totally EPIC fashion. The scheme will play out LIVE at 8 p.m. Eastern, and we’re willing to bet it’ll be one for the yearbooks. Oh, and did we mention Cody Simpson, Hilary Duff, Nicole Byerand “Awkward“‘s Ashley Rickards will also orchestrate personalized Promposals?

Finally, though prom and its subsequent shindigs usually encourage dancing until dawn, every good party’s gotta end sometime, and to close out the “Promposal Mania” festivities, MTV’s airing a very special episode of “Girl Code” at 11 p.m. that’ll feature some choice prom insight from Rickards’ “Awkard” co-stars Beau Mirchoff and Brett Davern. So whether you’re prepping for your senior year’s final dance or want to take some notes for next year, we guarantee it’ll make you a verifiable promenade authority.

Overwhelmed by the pressure of planning the perfect night? Who needs the stress! Whether you’re single or coupled up, be sure to have some fun on your special night, and get ready for the season’s fun by tuning into “Promposal Mania” next week!
