Hey Shevyn! So excited to be chatting with you. Can you tell us about your new EDM Single?
My new single called “Runnin Outta Time” is about a fun spiritual matrix where my future self comes to talk to my present self and there is time travel involved in the music video. I have not officially released it yet but I’m looking forward to in the near future.
What has been your thought on the reaction of the song?
I am so happy because so many people love it and seem to really be jamming out to it!
What was your reaction like when you learned you won Breakout Pop Star of the Year?
I was so excited and I’m always excited when I receive any award because it’s such an honor and I’ve worked really hard over the years on my music so it feels really good!
What’s the process of writing one of your songs?
Sometimes lyrics as part of my head out of nowhere and I have to stop what I’m doing and write them down. Other times I go into the studio with the producer and I hope I make the beat from scratch by just directing him on the sounds that I like and then from there I listen to the music over and over until lyrics come to my head and then I write them down and let the producer arrange them.
You have also created a growing social media presence for yourself. Why do you think social media is so important for singers today?
Well it’s definitely important to stay in touch with your fans and people that really appreciate your music and it’s so cool that when we go online we can literally reach everybody in one second so it’s definitely important because it builds some type of relationship and it’s a way to stay in touch.
With a following already, your supporters must have a name for themselves. Does your fan base have a name?
I’m not aware if they do. I certainly don’t want to put a label on them because I just appreciate their support so they can call themselves whatever they want. But I definitely have branded my talkshow where I interview other big name entertainers on YouTube and IGTV as the “Shevyn Show”. Also my Saturday or Sunday spiritual talk where I go live and just talk about what’s on my heart I have named the Shevyn’s Heaven Show.
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I really appreciate how much they respect me and definitely want to keep it that way. But I like to bring them a certain level of fun entertainment where they can see all sides of me and I can enjoy their energy on all levels as well.
What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?
One time I was going to the movies and I was walking up the outside stairs from the parking lot up to the outside patio of the movie theater and as soon as I got up the stairs a whole bunch of kids screamed Shevyn and flock to me within a few seconds I was surrounded for group pictures. I tried talking to them to ask them what movie they were going to see, but they all just stared at me and seem tongue-tied so once they were done with the pictures I just smiled and said bye and then got my ticket for the movie theater and then finally made my way inside the theater.
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
I use Instagram the most and I am starting to use YouTube more so everyone should definitely go subscribe to my YouTube channel called The Real Shevyn.
You recently had the opportunity to open up for Justin Bieber, can you tell us a little bit about what that experience was like?
Actually it wasn’t that recent, but it was a fun experience. I saw Justin backstage and kind did a head nod and said “what’s up” and he also did a head nod and said “what’s up”. From an entertainer to another entertainer we just kept it cool. Before I knew it it was time for me to go on stage. So there’s no major story to tell about me and him. But the crowd was a great crowd and went wild and they were really excited which made it a fun show.
What’s an average day for “Shevyn” look like?
Wake up pray and meditate. Then clean everything possible because I’m OCD lol. Then get ready and drive to my work out. Then do my scheduled live interviews on other people’s Tv shows or radio shows or podcast to promote my music. Then interview other entertainers for “The Shevyn Show”. Then usually my agent calls or emails me to show me an article that was written about me in a magazine or online and tell me about a brand or product that wants to work with me. Each day I also have a phone call with a loved one or I eat dinner with a loved one.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂
