So excited to be chatting with you. You’ve been busy with music recently. Can you tell us what you’ve been up to over the past few months?
Excited to talk as well! I’ve been working on finishing up my album and touring for the past few months.
You just released your new single “Turn”! Can you tell us the meaning behind the song?
Turn is about trying to teach yourself to reverse your mindset. I kind of felt like I was in the habit of letting people say things that I wasn’t comfortable with or staying in bad situations because I wanted to avoid conflict. It was a quality that I didn’t respect and needed to change.
How did the idea for this song come about?
The idea of this song came from a serious of situations that kept happening in my life repetitively that I wanted to break.
What’s the process of writing one of your songs?
I’m always writing melodies and recording ideas. I usually start with chords and then go to melodies. Lyrically, sometimes it’s really obvious what to write about and it comes together so naturally. When it’s not a situation where I already know exactly what I want to say, I create stories or write about weird things I think about that would never actually occur in my life.
Are you excited to start performing your new single live?
Yes! I’ve already performed it quite a bit, with band and stripped down. It’s been really fun thinking of how to build it or break it down when needed.
How excited are you for tour?!? Can you spill any details about the tour?
I just got back from tour and it was amazing. I loved getting to be in another country and playing music every night. It was definitely hard and tiring but totally worth it.
What’s the feeling you get when you are performing live?
Playing live is the same concept as dessert to me. Everything else is the healthy beneficial thing you do so that you can get to the best part.
Why do you think social media is so important for artists today?
Social media is really important now because well everyone is on it and it’s a great way to reach a lot of different people at once. Also, you can create an image that is cohesive with your music and have it all in a place that’s accessible.
Do you have any last things to tell your supporters?
Thank you to anyone who listens and feels something genuine towards my music, it means a lot to me!
