LISTEN to “OOMS”: SpotifyApple Music & Soundcloud

Hey EVVY, so excited to be chatting with you! What led to your return from a four-year long hiatus?

Hi! Thank you for having me! What led to my return was mostly timing, some of the battles I was dealing with started to dissipate and I felt ready to release new music.

Where did your love of music come from?

I’ve been in love with music since I was a child, I grew up listening to a lot of the music my older sister would play for me (Madonna, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and more) and as I got older I discovered music on my own along with sharing new bands and artists with my friends growing up. Music has always been an escape for me, whether it be listening and dancing to it or writing my own music. Music has a way of really bringing you to another place,  and I’ve always loved that feeling. My love for singing  started at a very young age, once my sister encouraged me to perform at my elementary school talent show I never looked back. I explored all the musical outlets from vocal performance to musical theatre. After college, I found myself as an artist through the world of songwriting, and discovered my sound and released my project/self-titled “EVVY” EP.

Can you tell us what you’ve been up to over the past few months?

I am currently working on new music, putting together my live show and enjoying the nice New York weather!

You just released your new single “OOMS”!! Can you spill any details on what it was like creating this song?

“OOMS” (Out of My System) was written during a time where I confronted the anxiety and depression that I had let takeover my life. This song is about overcoming those inner demons and transforming one’s life into something beautiful. I wrote “OOMS” out in LA after a very needed escape from NY with Chris Lyon & Brandon Colbein. At first I was nervous because I was opening up to people I hardly knew, but then I realized I wasn’t alone in how I was feeling. We wrote it in one session and I was beyond excited with the end result.

What does it feel like to be releasing your own original music again?

It’s very exciting, it’s been so long and I’m just happy to be able to share a piece of work that I am proud of.

Are you making a music video for “OOMS”?

There is discussion, but not quite sure yet. Stay tuned!

Will there be an EP or album out soon?

Not quite yet, but I am working on it!

How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?

I want to be able to connect with my supporters, hear their stories. I am very inspired by my fans, and their stories and how my music has affected them in a positive way. It makes me feel like I am doing something right.

Does your fanbase have a name?

Not that I am aware of but I am happy to take suggestions… I do welcome them with open arms to the #EVVYlution

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

I haven’t had any crazy fan encounters yet, but someone did send me a photo of my lyrics tattooed on their arm and I thought that was pretty crazy but I was also very honored.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?

I use Twitter  & Instagram mostly — @evvyofficial (come say hi!)

Why do you think social media is so important for artists today?

I think it’s just such an easy amazing way to stay connected with fans and share your music. Especially for independent artists.

What’s an average day for you look like?

I don’t think there is a such thing as an average day for me, everyday is very different for me. Either I am working part time jobs or in a session writing a new song.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to explore the great outdoors. I love the beach, hiking and traveling to new places. Most importantly I love spending time with my friends and family… and then there is the occasional self care day when you just need to be alone.

What impact do you want to have on the music world?

I want to write music that lifts people’s spirits, which might be a challenge but it’s a challenge I’m willing to take on. I feel like we are living in a time where we need some positive vibes and I hope I can contribute to that along with many other artists who are trying to do the same.

What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?

So many! Ha! I’d honestly love to go on tour sometime in the near future. And as far as my personal life, I’ve set the intention to just take it one day at a time and to stay present and focused.

How has this whole music career experience been?

It’s been humbling despite the difficult moments. I honestly love what I do, and hope that people resonate with what I am putting out.

Do you have any advice for aspiring music artists?

Listen to your gut. If the vibe is off then it’s not for you. Patience.

Do you have any last things you went to tell your supporters?

I love you all! Thank you to the old supporters for sticking around and to any new fans out there, thank you for listening to my new song and welcome to the #EVVYlution! <3
