Hey Missy, so excited to be chatting with you! What would you say brought on your passion for acting?
I stepped on stage for the first time in my high school production of Grease, and from then on I just knew I wanted to act. I started to do it each year of high school, and stepped into community theatre, and did theatre in college and I just really fell in love with acting. I started film training at Hollywood Huntsville and that’s where I found a new sense of passion for acting and really focused on my acting career.
What is one movie that has greatly influenced your life?
A Cinderella Story, in the scene where the guitar falls down and reveals the quote “never let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game.” It’s motivated me to chase my dreams without fear.
What has been your favorite acting role to date?
Playing Tiffany in Scream Dreams, a local project in Florida. It was a remake of the original that was filmed a few years back. It was my first time playing a strong “mean girl” character, and I learned so much, and had a blast with the cast. It was my first horror film, and first time using special effects makeup which was so cool!
What would be your dream acting role?
I’d really love to voice a Disney Princess, that would be a childhood dream come true. But I’ve always dreamt of playing Christine Daae in The Phantom Of The Opera on Broadway.
Is there anyone you are dying to work/collaborate with in your acting career?
Anne Hathaway, I have been a big fan of her work since I first saw The Princess Diaries as a kid. Her talent in each film she’s done is stunning.
Do you have any projects in the works you can tell us about?
Not at this moment, but hoping to pick up another project soon!
If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it — metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions — what would it say and why? (If helpful, it can be someone else’s quote: Are there any quotes you think of often or live your life by?)
There is one quote by Sierra Boggess, a Broadway star, “ You are enough. You are so enough. It’s unbelievable how enough you are.” This quote keeps me going everyday and I believe everyone should hear it and know they are good enough, keep going.
What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?
Whenever I get up and get ready, I sometimes have a small pep talk in the mirror to keep me in confidence for the day. And when there’s no one home and I’m doing housework, I sometimes start to sing, normally a familiar tune but the lyrics change to what I am thinking then. It’s just fun to do and relieves stress a lot.
What is your current go-to song?
Lately, I’ve been jamming to Lauren Alaina’s “Road Less Traveled”, But I also jam to Hamilton quite a lot.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in acting or singing? What advice should they ignore?
The best advice I can give is to take a class, and if its for you, stay in training. And then do it. Go after it. And don’t stop. Don’t stop even when others tell you ‘you won’t make it.” or “you’re not good enough.” There will be many of these, but behind them are many more supporters. I would ignore any negative advice. Any advice that is misleading, and makes you feel bad about what your heart is telling you is bad. Don’t follow it. Trust your heart, and follow it. And never let fear stop you.
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?
I always grab a glass of water, and take a few seconds to breath and decompress. I then stretch a little on my muscles and go back to what I was doing, and that typically sets me back in focus.
What social media platform do you use most? Where can people find out what projects you have going on?
I mostly use Instagram, and then Facebook.
Any last things you’d like to tell your supporters?
I just want to say thank you for the support, and to never give up on your dream.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂
