Kory Burns grew up in South Florida, the only child of a single mother. When he was three years old, he heard Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover” and he knew right away he was going to be a singer.

This week he releases ““Radio”, a seductive R&B pop track that he recorded with Sean McMillion — best known for his work with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Snoop Dog — and Carlos Battey, who recently won a Grammy for his dance remix of Madonna and David Guetta’s “Revolver.”

The song is fun and flirty; exactly the sound Kory was going for.  “’Radio’ celebrates being single, doing who I want, when I want and how I want,” says the young singer.  “Even in the middle of a pandemic, I’m having as much fun as I can right now.”

We chatted with Kory from his Miami home.

How excited are you to get “Radio” out into the world?

Kory Burns:  I’m very excited about the release of “Radio”. I’m ready to get out and perform it!

How would you describe its sound?

Kory Burns:  It’s a vibe. Very pop and R&B, with a little maturity to it, if you will.

What do you want your young audience to take away from your music?

Kory Burns:  I want everyone to take away that it’s ok to have fun, be sad or heartbroken… because, guess what?  You’ll get over it and realize you are so much stronger than you thought.  You’re going to be just fine! For teens specifically, it is important to spread positivity. You are the future. Don’t let anyone tell you who you can or cannot be. Your happiness matters. Don’t be afraid to use your voice!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

Kory Burns:   I’m a very shy person. People always laugh when I say that because of what I do, but trust me, it’s true.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

Kory Burns:   As long as you are nice and respectful, feel free to come up, say hi and get a pic.  I try to repost all my fans.  If I ever say no, there’s a reason, but for the most part I’m like “Hey, what’s up, hellllooooo” (iykyk)

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Kory Burns:   Daydream.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

Kory Burns:   For an independent artist like me, it’s great because it’s easy to stay connected with fans and I can share new music with the tap of a button.

What platforms are you most active on?

Kory Burns:   I’m most active on Instagram. My story is where alllllll the action is. Disclaimer:  I don’t hold back on my story.

How personal do you get on social media?  What are some things that you keep private?

Kory Burns:   Everyone always says it’s so hard to keep your private life private. Truth is, no, it’s not.

Are you as single as your song, “Radio,” implies?

Kory Burns:   I’m am as single as a dollar bill and I ain’t lookin for change. But if Tinashe sent me a DM… game over ??

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

Kory Burns:   To go Diamond (10x Platinum).

Any last message you want to tell fans?

Kory Burns:   Make sure you check out my new single, “Radio,” available on all streaming platforms.  I can’t wait to see you all soon!

Kory Burns’ “Radio” is being released independently and is available now on Apple Music, Amazon and all other major retailers, as well as for streaming through Spotify.  Its video is on YouTube.  For more information, follow Kory Burns on Instagram @ KORYBURNS and Facebook @ KORYBURNS1.
