Hey Fancy Nancy, so excited to be chatting with you! You knew you wanted to act since a young age. What would you say brought on your passion for acting?
My mom says I was always full of energy and loved to entertain when I was a little girl. I loved watching Disney Princess movies and pretended to be whatever character I was watching. I would memorize the lines and sing the songs all day long. At the age of 8, I asked my parents if I could participate in a summer theatrical program with I Am Productions. The production for that summer was “ANNIE” and I was so excited to be a part of it because I knew there would be a lot of singing and dancing involved. I tried out for the lead role of Annie and got the part. It felt so good bringing Annie’s character to life and after that experience I just knew that acting was a career path I wanted to pursue!
What is one movie that has greatly influenced your life?
Hidden Figures! I truly love the story of women empowerment.
What has been your favorite acting role to date?
My all-time favorite role I’d have to say is when I played the lead child character “C1” in the movie “Alien Runner” (coming soon) This role pushed me outside of my acting comfort zone. It was the first time I played this type of character and I had to physically prepare & train for about 2 months before filming. It was a cool experience!
What would be your dream acting role?
I love watching Disney especially Disney princess movies. My dream acting role would definitely be a Disney Princess movie.
Is there anyone you are dying to work/collaborate with in your acting career?
I’ve always loved watching Zendaya because she sings & acts & we share a lot of similarities. I would love to work with her on a future project.
Do you have any projects in the works you can tell us about?
I just finished filming a short film entitled “Shattering Faith”! I played the role of “Joy” and I can’t wait for it to be released.
If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it — metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions — what would it say and why? (If helpful, it can be someone else’s quote: Are there any quotes you think of often or live your life by?)
A picture of myself and other kids spread out holding hands and the message would read
“It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice”!
I feel like with everything going on in this world people have forgotten how to be nice and kind to one another. We need more nice people in this world to overcome all the ugly things people are doing.
What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?
I love to bake and if I could bake 24/7 I’d be in heaven. I’m constantly baking any chance I get lol.
What is your current go-to song?
Definitely “Rise Up” by Andra Day! I’ve loved that song since the first time I heard it and did a cover of it when I was 9 years old. It has such a powerful message and anytime I’m feeling down or facing difficult challenges in life, I always sing that song and it helps me get through whatever I’m dealing with.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in acting or singing?
What advice should they ignore?
Do what you love and love what you do. I always say it’s not work when your doing something you love. When you truly love your career choice and the industry you’re in you’ll thrive and not get burnt out because that desire and passion keeps the flame burning when the going gets tough. Lastly, “Be True To Yourself”! Don’t let others talk you into something you don’t want to do. If it doesn’t feel right don’t go along with it. Don’t be in rush, take your time!
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?
Music is definitely my go to. All I have to do is play some music, sing a few songs and I’m back on track!
