What inspired you to pursue music?
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always been drawn to music. I wasn’t alone in my obsession with the noughties, my first massive crush was Justin Timberlake. For me I didn’t want to just be a consumer. I wanted to create as well. I tried out a few different facets of the industry before I found my passion. My love for music led me into songwriting and becoming an artist.
How would you describe your musical style?
My style is the kind of pop music you can listen to anytime. In your car, getting ready for school or work, at a party, in the shower – literally whenever you want. My songs are the type you just want to play on repeat. The sound is amazing but every one of my songs tells a story. I am incredibly lyrically driven and I love making music that not only people can listen to but also connect with.
Did you have a break out song that started things for you?
“Convince You” is my break out song. I remember after the song was finished, I called Justin Jesso, the co-writer on the song, and basically said I was obsessed with it. We created something truly special to me and I wanted to release it on my own. I am so happy I made the decision and I want to thank Justin and the producer, David Mørup, for being so supportive. “Convince You” really started everything.
What was it like being featured on James Maslow’s “All Day”? How did this opportunity arise?
It is incredible. James is a legend. He is so talented and such a professional. It’s been amazing working with him. I co-wrote “All Day” and sing on the demo. When James and his team heard the song and found out that I was developing my artist project it felt like the perfect pairing.
You are getting ready to launch your solo career by releasing your debut single, “Convince You”. Can you tell my readers about your new song?
“Convince You” is a fun and upbeat pop song you want to listen to on repeat. It’s honestly addicting, I am obsessed with it and have been since the day we wrote it!
How did the idea for “Convince You” come about?
It’s one of those scenarios, where the girl has put her cards on the table but she’s waiting for the guy to step up to the plate!! It’s that ‘in-between’ phase that is so exciting but also really confusing!!
Can we expect a music video?
The lyric video is like a mini music video and that is set to come out shortly after the single release! Then the music video to follow!!
Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
Right now I am focused on getting the rest of my project finished!! The second single is on deck and it’s amazing. You’re really going to love it!!
Why do you think social media is so important for artists today?
It’s amazing and valuable to be able to connect with fans on a personal level. I think social media is a fun way to show your personality and also share and build relationships with your fans!
Does your fanbase have a name yet?
I don’t think there is a set name yet but I have heard some funny ideas!
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I want them to feel like they know me and we could hang out! I also hope I can inspire fans to pursue their dreams and passions!
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
I am mostly an instagram user, but I try to use all forms of social media!
Any last things you would like to tell your supporters?
THANK YOU!!! It makes it all worth it, the hard work and emotional rollercoaster, when people fall in love with your music and want to grow with you as an artist. It means the world to me to have that kind of connection and support with fans.
