What led you to start posting on YouTube?
I watched my mom put on makeup in her bathroom when I was younger and I was fascinated on how she transformed herself from natural to glam. I then went on YouTube and continued to watch Bethany Mota and Kandee Johnson. Then all of a sudden I thought to myself, “I want to try and do makeup tutorials.” Now people are coming to me for advice which still fascinates me.
What can people find on your channel?
People can find makeup tutorials, transformations all year round but they really blossom during Halloween season. They can also find me reviewing the newest products that companies send me. I also once in a while do silly videos and advice videos.
Are there any YouTubers that you look up to right now?
Oh yes, definitely! I look up to Nikkie Tutorials, Jaclyn Hill and still Kandee Johnson. I also look up to Gabi Demartino. She always gives me advice and it’s so nice having someone who is like an older sister in the industry to talk to.
Have you ever been starstruck by anyone you’ve met so far?
Oh my gosh, I was starstruck when I met Kandee Johnson for the first time at Beautycon in LA a few weeks ago. I also saw Manny MUA for the second time and I was shocked that he remembered me. That just made me speechless. It’s actually in my LA vlog that’s up on my channel.
What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?
My goals are to graduate from college. I’m working very hard on my album and songs. I’m hoping to have my album out next year and start performing at little venues. In the future I would also love to have a successful makeup company. I also want to travel more and start having meet and greets. I want to meet my followers/subscribers because without them I wouldn’t even be doing any of this.
What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment in your career so far?
I would say my biggest accomplishment in my career so far was winning the Audience Award in the Shorty Awards for my Gal Gadot Wonder Woman transformation video. That was a big moment for me.
Overall, how has this whole YouTube career experience been for you?
The whole YouTube career experience has been amazing so far. I love what I’m doing, I love meeting my subscribers along the way. I get DM’s on Instagram everyday saying that I made them want to start a channel, or just that they are a huge fan and support me. That just means the world to me and I never thought I would have that impact on someone. I am definitely going to continue my channel for as long as possible.
Do you have any advice for anyone trying to make it as a YouTuber?
I would say that the YouTube world is very saturated. I would suggest to just be yourself, stay true to who you are and do YouTube because you love it and not only for the money.
You have also created a huge social media presence for yourself. Why do you think social media is so important for artists today?
I think that social media is so important because it’s a way to promote yourself to your audience on different platforms. For example when I post my YouTube videos every Thursday night I post a trailer on my Instagram story with a swipe up so my Instagram followers can go to my channel. I think cross promotion is so important. Especially today since there is so much competition to make it in the industry. It’s also very important to build brand recognition. It’s also a great way to connect with my fellow makeup artists. We can collaborate and develop relationships that would have been too difficult years ago before social media existed.
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I want my relationship to be real with my followers/subscribers. I want to be honest and I want to have a close relationships with them. I want to be the big sister that they can come to for advice.
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
I use Instagram to stay connected.
Does your fan base have a name?
I call my subscribers and followers “my princesses” because I do have many young followers who just like me, love Disney, the princesses, and the fantasy of it all.
What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?
I haven’t had such a crazy subscriber encounter but when I was in the Hamptons I was in a random boutique and I went outside and this girl came up to me and said “she loves my videos”. It meant the world to me.
Do you have any last things you want to tell your fans?
