What inspired you to pursue music?

I have loved music as long as i can remember. Over the years, I’ve realized more and more what music can do to people and for myself. It’s something that can completely turn around your mood in any direction. Sometimes you just hear THOSE songs that you never get sick of because of how they make you feel, and to be able to do that myself for others is my ultimate goal.

Can you tell us a little bit about you?

The three main things that have made up my life for a while now is school, sports, and music. Much of my time was consumed by gymnastics which i competed and trained for almost 11 years. During most of this time, music was just a hobby of mine, because there was just not enough time…I started to learn how to play piano at age 6 with my kindergarten teacher. A few years later I started to take vocal lessons. Then I moved onto recording in a studio and that’s where my interests for writing music started, but I never thought I’d be putting it out into the world.

What was the transition like going from Annelie to annelieElina?

Transitioning from Annelie to annelieElina was new and refreshing for me because it marked a new chapter with a different type of music and a new style! Not that I want to forget about the music I released under “Annelie” in any way at all; I am proud of the music I made before because I think it helped me really figure out what direction I want to go in with my music.

What artists do you look up to right now?

Some of my favorite artists and the ones I listen to the most are Julia Michaels, Billie Eilish, Lennon Stella, Clairo, Alec Benjamin, LANY, FINNEAS, and many more.

You are gearing up for the release of your new EP! How excited are you to get this project out into the world?!?

Yes! I am beyond excited to get my EP out there! 2 of the tracks are already released as singles and full EP will go on pre-sale mid October. I’ve been working on this for a long time, and can’t believe I’m actually sharing it with everyone soon. It all feels so surreal to me. November 1st will be a historic day for me:)

Can you tell us about what this EP means to you?

This EP is really a representation of me and my growth in music over the past few years. It has been an incredible opportunity for me to experiment in order to figure out what direction I want to go, what my style is, how I write best, and all of the above. I still don’t know exactly what my sound is, but I know I am much closer.

Any fun moments while creating the EP?

Yeah, definitely! Working with Mike Pappas, my producer and co-writer on this EP, has been so fun and focused all at the same time. There have been many laughs and moments where we finally get to the point or stage of a song where we’re like, “yes, that’s it!”. Sometimes a song just doesn’t feel complete or right, and it could be the slightest change or starting all over that makes the difference.

What’s your favorite song off the EP?

I love how all of them turned out and think that they all flow together in a sense, but i think ”Recover” has to be my favorite. I had originally written that song about 2 1/2 yrs ago with Mike Merthe, Nate Evans, and Johan Lindebrandt. I decided I wanted to include it on the EP, so Mike and I put a lot of work into it, and I think we hit it on the spot with this version. It was one of those songs that went through SO many phases and was worked on by so many people which is what makes it so special. Being able to work with all these talented people and get to use everybody’s individual ideas is what made this song possible.

Have you and your team picked out the next single off your new EP?

“Veins” and “Let You Go” are actually the only singles released off the upcoming EP. There are 3 additional songs along with Veins and Let You Go that are on the EP that will release on the 1st of November. Presale will start very soon!

What song are you the most excited to perform live from the EP?

Right now I am the most excited to perform “Recover” and “Leave You Low” because they both have a really good and different vibe that I think is fit for a live performance.

What does it feel like to perform your own music live in front of your supporters?

I am hoping to get to do more performances this year to get my EP out there! It’s so crazy for me to see complete strangers loving stuff that I’ve made… I’m really excited about that and hope to interact with my supporters in person more in the near future!

Are you planning to tour to promote this EP?

Well, touring..that would be amazing but it all depends on what happens after the EP! I am also a high school student so it’s hard to do something like that. I will be playing some more shows in the LA area for sure though.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music?

My main goal is to make music that everyone can relate to in their own way, even if it’s just one song. The goal with my EP was to try out a variety of different sounds, styles, and lyrics that my listeners and myself can connect to. I know I love finding artists where I can resonate or fall in love with maybe just even one of their songs. You may not like everything I put out, but I hope that you can find bits and pieces for yourself in my music.

How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?

I did do a show recently with my producer Mike Pappas at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and that was a really great experience. I was able to perform some of my new original music for the first time. I was glad to get such a warm reaction to it. I’m really looking forward to doing more live shows and interacting with those that enjoy my music!

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

I haven’t really had that many fan encounters yet:) I’ve only been in a few situations where someone has recognized me, which was very surprising for me! Both the people I met were very sweet and supportive of my music.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?

I definitely use Instagram the most to connect with my supporters and listeners. I always talk about upcoming music, post covers, post some photos, I also support a few organizations from my Instagram and help them with shoutouts and promotions for great reasons like keeping young girls off the streets in Nepal, pediatric cancer awareness and some animal rescue organizations!

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

I’m always writing and continuing to create! My goal is to release more music this year and to keep establishing my sound! I would also like to get more involved in various projects involving music. I have worked alongside my mom who is in the medical field and involved in various medical missions. I’ve been able to come with her to the hospital to meet and interact with some very young patients, others that are my own age- patients that have to face living with cancer. It is always an eye opener to how fortunate I am to be healthy and doing what I love. Whatever I can do to help make their time better in the hospital is time well spent! So if you are reading this and work in that field and want me to be part of your next music project, please email me! I would love to.

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you to everyone who has supported me for so long and to all of you who have just come along and started to listen to my new stuff! I never thought I would go as far as to create and release my own EP, and it’s all because of you guys! SO THANKFUL!!
