Hey Amy! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single “Not About Us”! How excited were you to get this project out into the world?
Hi!! I was so incredibly excited about this one. The production came out exactly as I had imagined it when I wrote it in my room, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s out in the world for whoever to listen to.
What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music? & What do you hope they’ll get from hearing your new songs?
I think they’ll like how much more upbeat it is than my last one! Something you can dance around to rather than cry in your room, which is the vibe of my other song that’s out. The difference between my two singles are kind of funny, but that’s just who I am, either in a sad girl hour mood or get up and dance kinda mood haha.
Can you tell us the backstory of this new single? Is it from a real experience?
Yes! It comes from the story and feelings of a relationship I was in! It was very real and I was very much in love at the time.
What does this single mean to you?
Oh man, it means a lot because it’s one of my favorites I’ve ever written, with one of my favorite artist/writers Phoebe Scott. The fact that it sounds exactly what I wanted one of my first songs out in the world to sound like and capture also means the world to me.
Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?!?
I’ve been in the studio with my absolute favorite song I’ve written alone, and I’m very excited about it. It kind of sounds like Gracie Abrams/ Holly Humberstone! I can’t wait.
What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?
I always thought it would be scary, but it’s actually really comfortable and one of my favorite things I’ve ever done. I love being vulnerable with people and this is just a way to do that for me/express myself and ideas.
What’s been your reaction to the love for the single from your supporters?
I feel so incredibly blessed and overwhelmed, I can’t even put it into words. But I am also very surprised because I really thought only my parents would be listening to it haha.
Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?
100% my parents and my friends who support me no matter what.
What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?
I want them to feel seen and understood, and I hope they can feel that through my lyrics. I know what I feel and put into my songs isn’t just my experience. I’m also big on building relationships with people and I hope they know they can reach out to me for anything.
Are you planning any IG Live shows to promote your new music?
Not currently, I’ve mostly just been working on new music. But hopefully soon!
What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?
That they’re loved and can do anything and I believe in them, cheesy but true. Also that I’m an ally and black lives matter.
What’s something your fans don’t know about you?
Up until I was 18 I thought I was going to be a veterinarian.
What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
Such a weird thing to think about people ever recognizing me.. but they should know I’m awkward most of the time unless I’m drinking lol.
Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
This is a good question! So many people, but I would love to meet Amy Allen because I think she’s a brilliant writer and Back to You is still stuck in my head/ makes me FEEL things.
Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
Oof I don’t even know what I would do without it! It’s everything, and a great way to connect with people.
What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?
My biggest goal right now is to release the ep I’m working on and get a publishing deal sometime within the next year!
Any last things you want to tell your supporters?
Just thank you so much for supporting!! It’s crazy the amount of love I’ve felt from my releases and I can’t wait to share more 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂
