Hey Preston! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your latest single “About To Go Off” & it’s awesome! I love it!! What has been your thought about the reaction of the song?

I’m super happy. I love that something I worked so hard on has resonated with people and they really enjoy listening to it. I think it’s my best work so far.

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it based on a real experience?

I’m a pretty positive guy.  You know, glass half full and all that.  So the track is sort of a “positivity anthem”, something people can listen to when they want to get hyped.  I’m hoping the song helps my career “go off.”

You also have more music coming out in 2019! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to next year?

It’s all in the works right now so I don’t have too many details but I think they can always expect my music to make you feel good.  I’m going to experiment with some more vocals and collaborate with another artist friend of mine.

What’s the theme for this EP?

POSITIVITY.  We all could use a little more of it these days.

Any fun moments while creating the EP?

My favorite moments were rehearsing in the studio and making music videos.  I was jumping up on the console and the people at the studio weren’t too happy about it but I couldn’t help it. I just get really hype.

What’s been your favorite song to record and why?

This last one “About to Go Off,” I think it’s my best work to date. I feel like it works- I haven’t looked back and thought I should change anything.

How did the idea for this song come about?

I play high-level basketball and wanted to create a song that would get my team really pumped.

What does it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It’s the best feeling in the world. I dream of the day when I hear one of my songs on the radio. I love connecting with people, creating a mood and communicating a message ya feel?  I’m so passionate about every detail–so when I think it’s ready to go out there I’m pretty proud of it. You never know the reaction you’re going to get. Luckily most of the reaction I’ve received so far has been great.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

My mom–no one has supported or continues to support me as much as her.  It’s a crazy dream but she sees how much I want it. Also my coach and music manager Clive Daniel. He heard something in me from the very beginning and has encouraged me every step of the way.

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

Well, I’m only 14 so I don’t write about stuff other rappers are writing about.  I know to stay in my lane. So I guess people that want something different are drawn to my music.

What are three words you would use to describe your fans?

Passionate, loyal and motivated.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

Just how much I love making music and performing.  How hard I work on every little detail to make the best music I can.  And last, I want to help people feel good.

Do you have any pre-show rituals that help you get pumped up?

Not really, usually it’s just picking out my clothes- making sure they work for the event. I go through the song list, do the sound check, chill and then go out there and lay it all out!

Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?

We are working on something now.  But if there’s anyone out there that would like to have me I’m ready!

What is it like performing in front of your fans?

Unreal.  For some reason I have very little nerves, I just can’t wait to get out there and do it.  It’s like something takes over me and I’m someone and somewhere else. Seeing people jumping up and down and filming with their phones is just crazy.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

With all the crap and stress we all go through I just want to try and push it aside for them–even if just for a bit. I work super f’ing hard. I go to school, play ball and write music.  That’s my life. I have this crazy dream and I’m gonna make it happen.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

Hmm well I have a twin sister and a little brother. I don’t eat red meat, I love to fish, I’ve traveled a lot, my dog’s name is Happy and I enjoy boxing.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Purpose.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Eminem, Jay Z, Drake.

Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?

I can’t imagine trying to make it in music without it. It’s instant, it’s accessible to everyone around the world,  you can get your message out to as many people as possible and it doesn’t cost a thing.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

I want to perform more and hear one of my songs on the radio.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Just a sincere “thank you”, I’m truly blessed.  Thank you for being open, honest, kind, supportive and willing to go on this crazy ride with me.  And PLEASE keep listening, liking and spreading the word.
