Hey Spade 🙂 So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your debut EP, “Spade”! What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music? & What do you hope they’ll get from hearing your new songs?

Hi! I am so happy to be doing this interview with you. I really hope supporters take away the emotional journey of this EP. Each song stems from a personal experience and tells a story. I find music so thrilling and meaningful when I can relate to it and feel like I am going on a journey with the particular artist that I am listening to. I always felt inspired and empowered when music made me feel that way. I would love and hope to provide that for my listeners.

Can you tell us the backstory of the new EP? Is it from a real experience?

Yes! All of the songs are from personal experiences. I want people to really know their worth when they listen to this EP. When I was writing, I didn’t go in with a general idea of what the EP was going to be. I just wrote one song at a time and came in with concepts, ideas, and even song titles that would just pop up in my head. Once I finished writing and recording the demos, I picked my favourite four and realized that they all had a journey and through line. When you are young and going through life’s experiences, it can be so challenging… especially when love gets involved. You can feel empowered, you can feel lost, you can feel betrayed and so on. The main message throughout every single song is to know your worth and what YOU want first.

What does this EP mean to you?

This EP means so much to me. Not only is it the first one I have ever released, but I find that I carry the songs with me through different life experiences. Even though I wrote them a while back, I still find myself realizing how relatable they are even now! This for me is so cool because I wrote them for what I was going through at that time. It’s awesome to realize that even now they speak to me. That makes everything so much more special.

Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?!?

There are some projects I am working on right now… haha – I don’t want to spill too many details, but I have some really cool video content coming out on my Instagram soon! Stay tuned for maybe more surprises ;).

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It feels very empowering. Finally, something that I have been working on for so long is out in the world. It is so unreal to see people listening to the songs and loving them. I think my favourite part has been seeing dance videos to my songs from listeners online. It is the coolest thing ever.

Will there be a music video for any of your new singles? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video 🙂

That is the plan for the future. I don’t have anything set in stone just yet. I do have some really cool vision boards for each of the songs on the EP that could have potential music videos … so the world is my oyster!

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

Definitely without a doubt my parents for their unconditional love and support. Being an artist is so hard. You are constantly going to singing lessons and investing in so many other things that make you a better performer. They always believed in me and supported me without any questions throughout all these years. I would not be here if it weren’t for them.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

Like I mentioned before, feeling empowered. Especially in this day and age, it is so important to know yourself worth. That has always been such a struggle for me, and I think it is necessary to create art that discusses these topics so that we can all have a creative outlet to feel empowered.

Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?

My team and I are discussing a show in the near future. I want to make sure I am doing it right. I am such a perfectionist and if I do a show, it needs to be the best it can be! So.. stay tuned.

What is it like performing in front of your fans?

It is really a surreal experience. Especially when you are singing your own material. The feeling is still so new to me because my EP was just released not too long ago, but I always leave the stage feeling so grateful and connected with my audience.
What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

Self love!! I am all about being kind to your-self.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

When I first learned how to sing, I started training in classical. I am super grateful I did because it taught me to have great vocal technique when singing pop and other styles of music.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

Come say hi! I LOVE meeting you all.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Oh my gosh, so many people. If I had to pick one right now, it would be Billie Eilish or Ariana Grande. They seem like such sweethearts and are so talented.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

I think social media is super important because it gives artists like me a lot of networking opportunities with listeners. It is a great way to promote who you are as an artist and get your music out there.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

I would say to have a successful run with this EP and more opportunities from it. I want to connect with as many people as possible and I would LOVE to hear a song or songs played on the radio.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

I would love for you all to follow me on Instagram @thisisspade and have a listen to my songs, DM me, have a chat- you name it! I love connecting with you all. It’s so important to me and I just thank you for being so supportive.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!

I had a great time xox!
