TMI: Hi INDI, welcome to TMI. We are so excited to be chatting with you! Before we get started can you tell our readers about yourself and what you’ve been up to recently!

Thank you so much for having me! I’m Indi Star and I am a recording artist, actress, dancer and fashion and beauty content creator. Right now, things are a bit crazy because I am in the middle of releasing my new single and music video on September 15th. My new single is titled, Hurt A Little, and I am so excited to share it! I am also getting ready for NYFW which is always super crazy! I am in the middle of photoshoots and fittings but it’s all coming together!

TMI: Who / what artists have influenced your sound?

Well, there are so many talented artists that I love and look up to. I feel my own music kinda falls into an indie pop category, but I also listen to so many different styles of music like, folk rock, r&b, indie, 90’s alternative and so much more. I feel like I am still in the stages of finding my own sound and I have evolved already so much from when I started releasing music. I listen to a lot of Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine and Gracie Abrams and I definitely look up to them as artists!

TMI: When you start a song, do you begin with lyrics, melody, or the music?

I usually work out new songs with my producers and we usually agree on some basic music first that we think fits what the mood of the song should be and then we work out some different melodies that work with the music and then we start developing the lyrics. From there, it really depends on what aspects we think are the strongest and then start reworking everything until we come up with a solid base to fine tune!

TMI: Can you tell us about your new single ‘Hurt A Little’ and how it came about?

Yes!!!! So, Hurt A Little is a song about the end of a relationship and the feelings that come with it. It’s really about feeling like you are the only one hurting about a relationship ending and wondering if the relationship didn’t really mean as much to the other person because it appears as though they are not hurting as much as you are about it ending. You have this feeling of wanting them to hurt more than they are to validate the relationship meant something to them.

TMI:  Will there be a music video? If yes can you tell us more about the video!

There will be a music video and I am filming it on September 1st. It is going to be so good!! I don’t want to give the whole concept away but there are elements of campy horror films from the 90’s and I am more than excited to film!!

TMI: What do you have coming up next?

Hurt A Little is releasing on September 15th on all major streaming platforms with music video to follow. I am in the middle of prepping for NYFW and will be in NYC for that from September 5th – 14th. I am also in the middle of launching a podcast! With the SAG and writers’ strike, there is not much going on with acting, but I am hoping a resolution is reached soon so everyone can get back to work!

TMI: Can you tell us 5 fun things most people don’t know about you?

Hmmm, OK, you may not know that I was a member of Kidz Bop! I only went to Kindergarten! I was homeschooled my entire life and I have my highschool diploma. I didn’t talk until I was 3 years old and I’m still on the quiet side. I am obsessed with sunscreen and skin care in general! I love spicy foods and I put Sriracha on everything.
