You just released your first single as an artist!! How did you get started in the music business?

Thank you so much!! I’m over the moon about everything; this release has been more than I ever could’ve imagined. The response has been so cool.

I started out in a musical theater troupe in my hometown, where a mom of one of the kids reached out to my mom and suggested that I go to Nashville and try recording music of my own. This led to me becoming a songwriter, signing a publishing deal, doing the whole runaround. Long story short, I live in LA now and I’m finally putting out music that I feel best represents me.

What inspired you to start releasing your own music?

Funny enough, Gabbie Hanna. I’ve wanted to release music for years, but as a creative, it’s really hard to gain enough confidence to want to put out a song, because it’s such a big deal putting your art into the world; you never know what the reaction is going to be. However, I work with Gabbie Hanna a lot on her music, and it was cool, watching the process of how she released music. She made it look so easy, even though it’s definitely not, and she is such a hard worker. But she definitely inspired me to just put myself on the map and finally get something out into the world.

How would you describe your musical style as an artist?

Very pop-influenced; I love pop music so much, because it makes me dance and sing at the top of my lungs. I think, if you are making music, when it’s right, it should definitely give your stomach butterflies, the way falling in love does.

What artists do you look up to right now?

Great question. I’m a big fan of a lot of different artists stylistically and sonically. I love what Halsey is doing, I’m into what Selena Gomez has been putting out, I’m friends with Betty Who, and I’ve always loved her music. Females in pop are really killing it right now, so I’m super here for it.

You wrote and recorded your new song, “Gateway” with your production team LYRE. What was that whole experience like for you? What was it like working on your own song?

Well, the thing I love most about being in LYRE is the fact that I get to work with my best friend Alina Smith everyday. Writing this song with her was super therapeutic for me, she already knew all the ins and outs of the story, so it made it super easy for us to write this together. I couldn’t be more stoked that the first song I’ve put out is just the two of us. It represents everything we’ve been working for over the past few years.

The music video for “Gateway” looks like it was a lot of fun to make. Any fun moments while on set?

It was incredible! A lot of the times in the entertainment industry the perception isn’t the reality, but in this case it was. You can definitely tell we had so much fun on the set, and it really shows in the video. Everyone that was on the set are friends of mine that came through at a really important time for me, I’m so grateful to have such amazing people in my life.

How did the idea for the music video come about?

The initial idea I had was that I wanted to have my friends in the video and have them keeping me away from an ex. I thought: what is the most natural way of that happening? Thus, the house party idea was born. The video was directed by Nayip Ramos, who sees the world the way I do, super colorful and animated. He really made the set/video magical.

What was it like having a bunch of well known social media artists on your first ever music video?

Insane. I’m so lucky to have the support that I do, especially from people who I work with and love so dearly.

Can we expect any new music soon? If so can you spill some details about them?

I’m looking to release a song at the beginning of summer. Of course, at the moment I just want to release everything and have the world hear all of my music. The vibe moving forward is very pop and quirky, I’d say. Super excited to share more.

Are there any other fun projects in the works you can tell us about?

We are working on new music with Mackenzie Ziegler, Niki and Gabi, and wrapping up Gabbie Hanna’s album! All super fun and very different stuff!

Are you planning to perform live anytime soon?

The plan, as of now, is to get on the road sometime soon, I will keep you as updated as I can on my socials!

How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?

I love this question so much. There’s nothing more in the world I love more than my fans. The fandom has recently named themselves “The Moorons”, which makes me laugh, but I love it and them so much. We already have so many inside jokes, its crazy. I honestly want to connect as much as I can; it’s the reason I make music. I try to respond to everything I can and everything I see. I want communication to feel open, I want people to know I’m here to hear their stories.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?

Instagram and Twitter!
