Zoey, you started your music career at a very young age, what inspired you to try music in the first place?
To be honest, my parents were the ones who got me into music. My older brother had already been playing the piano for a few years before I started, and as soon as I was old enough to sit at a piano my parents signed me up. After that I fell in love with it.
How would you describe your musical style?
I would describe it as pop with a Latin and electronic flare to it.
What artists do you look up to right now?
I really look up to Lady Gaga, Camila Cabello, and Justin Bieber, just to name a few.
What are your friends and parents thoughts on your career in singing?
My friends and parents are incredibly supportive of it, and I cannot be more thankful for it.
Did you have a “break out” song that started things for you with your followers?
I didn’t, I just had one singing cover on my profile full of instrumental covers and a talent scout reached out to me.
Are there any projects in the works you can tell us about?
Yes, I actually have a project that I’m going to release this year. The rest you’re going to have to wait for, haha.
Your debut single “Runaway” is set for release on Friday, How excited are you for this release?
I’m very excited yet, nervous. I’m only 16 and it’s daunting to release something into the world and hope people like it.
How did “Runaway” get created?
“Runaway” was actually created in one of the quickest times I’ve ever been able to write a song. I wrote the entire song with lyrics and made a demo in under two hours.
Are you doing any shows anytime soon to promote your new music?
Not currently, but I plan to announce shows soon.
How do you prepare for a live performance?
I’ve only performed live once or twice, so I just take a few deep breaths and do it.
Does your fanbase have a name?
Not yet, but I’m thinking of a clever name.
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I want to have a very close relationship with my fans. If they take time out of their day to look at something I’ve posted or listen to a song I’ve released that means a lot.
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
I use Instagram most.
What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?
I have a goal to do what I love, which is music, while helping people through my music. I want to help as many people as I can. As far as it goes for my personal life, probably just to do the best I can with whatever I come across.
What other talents do you have other than singing?
The only thing I can think of is photography. I’ve always loved messing around with cameras and making videos with my friends and brother since I was little.
What’s an average day for you look like?
Since I’m 16 and still in school, I wake up, go to school, come home and work on homework, and work on some music or just hang out and catch up on my youtube subscriptions or shows on Netflix.
Do you have any last things you want to tell your fans?
I just want to tell them that if they’re going through anything right now that they’re not alone. Everyone is at different stages in life and at the end of the day nobody is 100% content. We’re all human.
