How did you get started in the music business?
Summer: I’ve been singing at church and taking music lessons all my life. When I was in college I used to sing at all the night clubs. I ended up opening for artists like Black Eyed Pea and Bubba Sparxx when they came to campus. I’ve been performing in venues in the DMV ever since.
What inspired you to start releasing your own music?
Summer: I really enjoyed writing poems my whole life. I’ve always been a writer. When I was a teen I used to play the piano before school in the health classroom and people would challenge me to make words to the songs. Pretty soon I learned to put my poetry to the melodies stuck in my head, and I’ve been doing It ever since.
