Hey Taylor –  So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single and video for “Hurt Me”! How excited were you to get this project out into the world?

Hi! You as well! I’m very excited for people to finally hear my music. I’ve been writing for a long time so I couldn’t be happier to start releasing!

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music? And what do you hope they’ll get from hearing ‘Hurt Me’?

I’m hoping they’ll love it! I think that’s what every artist hopes for. I want to keep releasing music that people can really connect with.

Can you tell us the backstory of this new single – Is it from a real-life experience?

I went through a bad break-up, as most of us do. It was an incredibly unhealthy and tumultuous relationship and I was the one that left. Even though I had no choice but to end it, I still couldn’t help but feel guilty. Our minds are so powerful and love to play tricks on us. You shouldn’t have to feel guilty about getting out of an extremely detrimental relationship, but sometimes you can’t help how you feel…and that’s okay and normal! I think it’s all a part of the process.

You filmed your own music video.   What did you learn from the experience?

I did! It was a really awesome experience. I had never shot a video before and I really enjoyed it. I loved being creatively in control!

Which do you prefer more: recording in the studio, or performing live In front of an audience?

Wow that’s a tough one. I love recording and performing live for different reasons. Recording in the studio is important to me because I learn so much and actually think it makes me a better performer. In the studio, you’re really able to push yourself vocally to get the perfect takes and in return that gives you the confidence to be able to perform it live. Sometimes you can surprise yourself.. like: “Oh – I had no idea I could do that OR hit that note”.  Performing live on the other hand, is just a magical experience. You’re getting to perform the music that you made in a room and share it with other people and feel the connection with them. It’s all special to me!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?  For example – what do you like to do when you’re not recording or performing live?

I love to cook! This is actually a brand new thing for me. I’m embarrassed to say it, but I used to not even know how to make pasta. Since quarantine began, I’ve learned how to cook and I’m actually not too bad! I never thought I’d like it, but I’m really enjoying learning and trying new recipes.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Barbara Streisand. I would love to meet her and would probably die if I ever got to sing with her. She is incredible. One of my favorite songs to sing growing up was ‘Funny Girl’!

Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year – any other new music, maybe a live show or 2, a streaming live performance on Instagram?

There will definitely be more new music coming. I’ll be performing live as soon as it’s safe to do so! In the meantime, there might be some live streaming performances.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. Everyone that I’ve ever worked with has helped me get to where I am today. It’s all about learning and growing and I just want to continue to do so!

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.  TMI  🙂
