What inspired you to pursue music at such a young age?
I’ve just always enjoyed singing and playing the piano and guitar, I’ve felt drawn to it for along as I can remember. I used to perform for my toys and my sister using the couch as my stage and banging away on the piano keys. It’s always been something I couldn’t escape or leave behind and didn’t want to leave behind.
How would you describe your musical style?
I never know how to answer this question because I don’t actually know what genre my music would fall under! It has influences of Contemporary Pop, Surf, Rock’n Roll… I guess you could say it’s more on the side of Alternative Pop/ Dream Pop.
What artists do you look up to right now?
I love what Halsey is all about at the moment. Miley is also doing amazing, Lana del Rey of course because she is Queen! Florence and The Machine will forever be an Artist I admire… her vocals are insane and her music is just something I can’t put into words.
You recently released your new single “Voodoo Man” and it’s gotten an amazing reaction from your supporters, what has been your thought about the reaction of the new single?
I get giddy whenever my songs do well… whether its 1 stream or thousands I’m always so grateful to those ears for listening. I’ve had some amazing interviews and reviews and that’s helped me a lot to keep creating and keep pushing and going for this dream. I’m just happy and excited to keep making more music and I’m hoping to get some radio play too!
Can you tell us the meaning behind “Voodoo Man”? How did the idea for this song come about?
“Voodoo Man” came about in one of my lows. I was losing hope, being impatient and stressing about this move to make this dream happen and whether or not it’s realistic or not, at the same time I was stressing about not having a proper job and income and just overall a life crisis at the tender age of 26. I’d been cheated out of a couple $100’s, was made promises and offers of reaching A&R’s, Labels and Radio and ultimately let my judgment go and fell for those scammers. It kind of got to the point where I thought maybe I should sell my soul to the Devil. You hear of stories of musicians selling their souls to gain fortune and fame and make their dreams come true and I kept thinking well I don’t see any other option, I just want to make music. It was then some signs happened and I thought okay well I have God and the Universe on my side and they’re clearly helping me so I just have to keep at it and believe in myself and the process. Say no to things that seem too good to be true.
How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?
I would love to meet my supporters! I didn’t know I had many but its really cool to see that I do. I’d love to interact with them, find out what sounds they like and ultimately just develop a close relationship with them. So hit me up on Insta and Twitter!
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?
I use Instagram and Twitter pretty equally although my social media game needs more attention! I just signed up for Tumblr so let’s see how this all goes.
Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
YES!!! I have a song I’m working on called “Gods Fools” and it’s a goodie, kind of talks about being messed around and just deciding you’re better than that, quoting those famous lines that those wonderful $@#* Boys like to hand out when they’ve had enough fun with one girl. It’s a cheeky little song with a more melancholy sound. I am super super excited to share this one. So keep a look out towards the end of July/ beginning of August.
Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?
Just keep supporting me and interacting with me because I’ll definitely fangirl over you supporting me. Super grateful!
Thanks for taking the time to do this interview 🙂
