Hey Sasha! So excited to be chatting with you! Where did your love of music come from?

I was born into a musical household – my dad played trumpet while I was growing up and my mom would play music around the house (The Beach Boys and ABBA were quite popular). My grandparents were also foundational in my musical pursuit. They were the ones to foster my vocal technique. I took lessons from other teachers but my grandparents were really the ones to train me extensively. My grandfather even sang with the San Francisco Opera Chorus.
What inspired you to pursue music as a career?
I grew up loving the art of song. I liked storytelling and felt I had a unique perspective to share. I also enjoyed evoking emotion through performance. In other words, being on stage and controlling the environment through music/acting made me feel alive. It was fun for me. It always will be.
How would you describe your music style?
I describe it as Blue-Eyed-Soul. It’s R&B/Pop along the same lines as JoJo, Tori Kelly, and Shawn Mendes. Mature, real, raw, and soulful. 90s R&B (TLC, Maxwell, Tevin Campbell) and early 00s UK Pop/Soul (Sugababes, Craig David) are big influences for me.
You just released your new single “Tell Me” and it’s gotten an amazing reaction from your supporters. What has been your reaction to all the success the new song has been getting!?!
I feel understood. This song is my story and I’m glad I get to tell it. I’m overjoyed that it’s been received so well. I knew there was something special about it while in the studio. All the ideas we were coming up with like the harmonies, ad libs, and the vocal layers turned out better than I dreamt of.
Are you planning to release any more music this year?
I don’t have plans to release anything else this year but that could always change. I’m open to possibilities.
