What inspired you to pursue music?

As a really little kid I always dreamed about performing on stage in front of thousands of people. To be honest I’m not exactly sure what inspired that. No one around me at the time was involved with music, but the desire to be on stage and to create was always in me from as early as I can remember. I would write songs in my room (My band was called “Glitter”) make up dances and sketch “fashion designs”. I started dancing and singing lessons around 5 years old. At first I was pretty shy, but as I got older I came out of my shell and by the time I reached high school I had my heart set on a career in the arts.

Can you tell us a little bit about you?

Sure! I’m from Staten Island NY and I’m 100% Italian! Born on the 4th of July. When I was little I thought the fireworks were for me 🙂 I’m an introvert and a social butterfly at the same time. Music, acting and dancing are my passions but I also love spending time with the people that I care about most and making memories with them. I love to laugh and don’t take myself too seriously. A random trivia fact is that I can do back flips haha!

What artists do you look up to right now?

I really love what Ariana Grande is doing right now. I respect the honesty in her music and how she’s been able to take challenging situations and turn them into something positive and empowering. I think she’s a great female role model!

You are gearing up to release your new EP at the beginning of the new year! Can you tell us about what this EP means to you?

This EP is so special to me. It’s the first time I feel that the music is a perfect representation of who I am. I spent a lot of time experimenting to find my sound and find myself as an artist. This is me stepping out for the first time and showing the world what I’m all about and what I’ve been putting my heart and soul into for the past year. It’s equal parts scary and exhilarating!

Can you spill any details about the new EP?

Its a 4 song EP and I got to work with the incredible female production duo, “Lyre”, out in LA. The music definitely speaks for itself but I will tell you its a fearless and unapologetic EP! On the surface, all of the songs are kind of female anthems but I know the guys will dig it too 😉 We also have some remixes in the works and you may see a featured rapper pop up on one of the tracks!

What song are you most proud of from this EP?

I’m most proud of Bad Sh*t! It’s a message to anyone who has ever tried to put you down, sleep on you or tell you you’re not good enough. Kind of a modern day “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera. Its an empowering song that reminds the listener that all the pain and hardships you’ve been through in your life have only made you more grounded, more resilient, and more ready to kick some ass! One of my favorite lyrics is: “I’ve been through the fire… Now I’m fire”

Any fun moments while creating the EP?

So many! I bonded on a personal level with the Lyre girls right away so it was really easy to have fun while we were creating. It was kind of like one long musical sleepover with your best friends haha. On the final day of recording we all went out and got tattoos together! It’s my first and only so it really means a lot to me. It’s a little broken heart because heartbreak can create beautiful things 🙂

What song are you most excited to perform from this new EP?

I’m most excited to perform “All Out”! Its the hype party song! The music video comes out this Friday! Go check it out 😉

What does it feel like to perform your own music live in front of your supporters?

Performing my own music live is electrifying. I feel the most alive when I’m on stage, sharing and connecting with other people who feel just like me. The best is when the audience sings along to the songs that they know. It’s indescribable!

How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?

I want to feel like we are all just a group of friends supporting each other. I want my show to feel like one big party that everyone is welcome and invited to. I consider my supporters my friends and all of my successes are their successes too. The music is for them.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?

I use Instagram the most! I just think it has everything you need all in one place. Switching back and forth between different social media is time consuming and I try not to get too sucked into my phone on a daily basis. If you want to stay up to date and connected with me Instagram is definitely the way to go 🙂 @thatgurlnella

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

The “All Out” music video will be premiering this Friday on the brand new NellaColeVEVO channel! I got to work with the incredible Hana Haley on this and she truly brought my vision to life. You can also catch me appearing in the new film, “Vox Lux” starring Natalie Portman in theaters this month!

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

This is only the beginning so get ready for what’s in store!
