Sherise! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your latest single, “Dream Maker, Heartbreaker” and also released your album “Dimensions”! How excited were you to get this album and your single out into the world?

The album ‘Dimensions’ was originally a huge pipe-dream for me! A milestone in the making! I liked experimenting with different genres and ‘Dimensions’ gave me a unified direction to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together!

My single ‘Dream Maker, Heartbreaker’ has been a long time coming, too. Here is the audio link: https://songwhip.com/sherise/dream-maker-heartbreaker

It’s been quite and exciting journey and it’s been many months, in the making! It wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of my fans, friends and family and the love and recognition that I’ve received from all over the world for my music.

What did you hope your supporters would think of all the new songs?

I wanted my supporters to have a variety (buffet) of sounds to choose from! That’s what I wanted to accomplish with “Dimensions”. Since this is my first album, it was a great way to introduce my sound to the world and to understand the kind of feedback I was receiving for my music. It gave me insight on what my supporters and peers in the music industry expect from me and my music.

Can you tell us the backstory of this album? Is it from a real experience?

This album catalogues both my struggles and wins in life, romance, music, my palette of emotions and my favorite type of sounds and instruments! While my work is diverse, it’s also relevant to current situations and my state of mind at any point in life. I absolutely love expressing myself through music! I feel like I was born to do exactly that!

You also have more projects coming out in 2020!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?!?

Yes, that’s absolutely right! I am currently working on my next album and will release new music in a couple of months!

I’ll let you and your readers on some exciting news, first, because I love your magazine! I also released a brand new version of my song ‘Change You Up’. This song is called ‘Change You’!

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

I write all my music, myself and I oversee all aspects of production and delivery of every song. I have a great rapport with my producers and engineers which helps ease and smoothen the process. I absolutely have a creative say in every piece of work that I put out. I have also done several podcasts and Instagram Interviews this year, as well as a talk show on Mindfulness on YouTube.

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It is absolutely liberating to finally see my work take shape and breathe freely after it has been many months in the making.

Will there be a music video for your new single? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video ?

I have released 3 videos this year of my originals.

What’s been the pros and cons of pursuing your music career?

There are so many pros and cons:

Pros would have to be:

1. Making waves with my music

2. Performing live with my band and bringing new dimensions to my performances, cover songs and my original music

3. Have been fortunate to work with brilliant and professional musicians

4. Impacting so many of my supporters (in thousands) positively and inspiring them.

Cons…these are not cons but I call them “stubborn babies” to be pacified:

1. The struggle of gaining acceptance of peers in the industry

2. Balancing finance while performing and making new music ( breaking even)

3. Sometimes being double booked for shows and then having to choose between them

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

I would like to thank my family, friends and production teams and band mates who have so beautifully accepted me and watch me grow through the years and keep on checking on my well being! Especially friends who’ve been there for me since childhood and never left and understood me through all my phases. Making music and performing often requires me to shut myself off from social gatherings or meeting friends. Sometimes I even have to sacrifice special moments with my family. But, they have always stood by me, no matter what. (they know who they are!) May God bless them!

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

I love that my fans and supporters are empowered by my music and that my music motivates them and resonates with their state of being! They are true ‘Risers’!

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

I would say that my fans are absolutely fabulous,  gorgeous, wise! Additionally, they are also passionate with a positive attitude!

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want my fans to take away the positive and inspirational messages and unique sounds that I embed into my music. I want my music to live and grow with them. I want my music to be a medium for them to become better human beings, who are at peace with themselves and the world.

Are you planning any IG Live shows to promote your new music?

Absolutely! I have already done a couple of live shows on my Facebook page and Instagram. Will surely do more and will most definitely perform my originals.

What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!

It is always the best experience ever to perform my work in front of my friends and fans.  I have been performing live since the past 10 years and my performances have evolved with experience as well as with the ability to perform different formats. I have been privileged to have the opportunity to perform my originals at singer-songwriter showcases as well as at internationally recognized venues like Hard Rock Cafe.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

I just want them to know that I value them and I truly appreciate them being there for me, during my performances and listening to my music! Their reactions when they listen to me and my music are priceless, to me! I live for their energy and truly value all their love and support!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

That my ancestry is from the sunny and beachy state of Goa, in India. I owe a lot to my heritage for being the way I am. I love to travel, explore different parts of the world and I love swimming and dancing.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

One word for them, would be “Loving”! They inspire me all the time with the way they express their love for my music! It’s absolutely beautiful, refreshing and full of love, always!

What do your fans call themselves? And How did that fanbase name catch on?

Well, I heard that they like to call themselves “Risers”. That makes me really happy.. Because it means I am inspiring them to ‘rise’, one way or another! May God bless them! I think it’s just that they enjoyed my music, so they kept at it.

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you! Have you ever been starstruck?

Wow! I’m so glad I can inspire my supporters! Yes, I absolutely have been star-struck when I attend concerts and am in awe of the performers who put up such flawless and beautiful performances!

Every time I attend a concert of some of my favorite artists, I am a total fan-girl! That happened to me when I attended a Bryan Adams concert, recently, when he performed in India.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

I am a down-to-earth personality, and I value being respected and appreciated as a human being, like everyone else. They should know, that I’m just here to make them happier, with my music!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Wow! So many! I am absolutely dying to meet Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Dua Lipa, Chaka Khan and Christina Aguilera, among so many others!

I love their energy and their musicianship and I would love to learn from them. I recently had the opportunity to perform with the legendary bassist – Shaun LaBelle as part of my band. It was an amazing and humbling experience, where I learnt a lot!

What’s your current go-to song?

My current go-to song is one of my own songs, “On the Dancefloor” Because it has an uptempo rhythm, a great vibe for dancing and a whole lotta love and energy!

Another one is ‘Dream Maker, Heartbreaker’!!

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

Social media is a great way to understand the way the world thinks. Everyone shares what’s on their mind and it’s a great way to pick up trends and analyze what people are listening to. It’s been quite a journey for me understanding what to post and how to post! The important thing is to let my audience have the best experience when interacting with me, my music and my content.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

My biggest dream/goal is to perform my music across the globe.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

I appreciate and truly respect all my supporters. They have been instrumental in shaping my direction! Your support and love means the world to me and encourages me, all the time! Much love, always!

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂

It’s been an absolute pleasure! Thank you for featuring me and my music.
