You started your music career at a very young age, what inspired you to try music at all?
From the second I was born, my parents immersed me in all different types of music. As I got older, we started going to concerts and I thought about how cool it would be to perform like that for people. So, I enrolled in a school of music called Rockstar Academy to see if I would like it. I fell in love with performing and the rest was history!
How would you describe your musical style?
I describe my style as pop/alternative. Recently I’ve been very influenced by Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande.
What artists do you look up to right now?
There’s a multitude of artists that I look up to right now! I’ve been listening a lot to Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, Blackbear, Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande.
Can we expect any new music soon?
Yes! I’m always working on new projects. I have a single coming out within the next month that I’m very excited for.
Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
Aside from new music, I’ve been delving into acting as well. Maybe you’ll see me on the big screen soon!
You help write your own music, whats the process of writing one of your songs?
Inspiration strikes me at very random times so I make sure to keep a notepad or my voice memo app available. Once I get started, I can normally write an entire song in about 10 minutes. I then get with my producer Andrew Lane and we bounce ideas off of each other for the music aspect of the song. It’s a great system we have going and we work very well with each other!
What was your favorite song to record?
My favorite song to record has actually not been released yet. It’s called Not Like You and I’m very proud of it. It should be out very soon!
Whats your favorite song to perform live?
My favorite song to perform live is my song Last Tears. It has some great drops and the crowd always seems to love it!
What does it feel like to perform your own music live in front of your fans?
It feels great! They’re so supportive and genuinely like my music. It’s such an amazing feeling to see them in the crowd, singing the words back to me.
Does your fanbase have a name?
We haven’t quite decided on a name yet, but something along the lines of Savvages or Savanators.
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
We have such a special relationship. They are my favorite people in the world and are like my family. I’m constantly chatting with them and connecting with them.
What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?
I’m not sure if I would call it crazy, but more super humbling. I remember I was in Georgia and I ran into some supporters of mine and they started crying because they were so happy to see me. For me to have that sort of impact on somebody, bringing them to happy tears, is absolutely insane to me. My supporters genuinely care about me as much as I care about them, and that kind of love is so special.
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
I mostly use Instagram! I love being able to share pictures of my daily life and being able to connect with my supporters so easily.
You recently were apart of the Boys Of Summer Tour can you tell us a little bit about what that experience was like? Whats it like being on the road?
Being on tour is my favorite thing to do, hands down. I loved meeting new people, performing my songs, and seeing different cities. I had a blast. It was hard work being on the road and the lack of sleep made for some groggy mornings, but it was 100% worth it.
Are you going on tour again anytime soon?
Yes! I plan to be going on tour in the fall.
You also recently performed at Seacrest Studios. What was that experience like for you?
Performing at Seacrest Studios is amazing. I’ve been to the Dallas, Houston, LA, and Atlanta studios and I have a blast each time. It’s so special to be able to meet the kids and just talk and have fun with them.
What’s an average day for you look like?
Very busy! I try to always hit up the gym and make sure my body is always ready for tour. You can find me at my studio practicing my vocals, or guitar and piano. I also normally have events in the evenings such as red carpets, or movie premieres. To fill up the spaces between everything, I also make YouTube videos, broadcast on Live.Me, and am constantly trying to make new content.
You just recently partnered up with ROLAND US & PAUL MITCHELL CO, Can you tell us about these partnerships and what you hope to come out of them?
Roland was kind enough to allow me to perform at their studio. They do this segment on their YouTube called the Roland Sessions and it was an amazing experience. I was their first unsigned artist invited to do this! Out of these partnerships, I hope to cross promote our different brands and build lasting relationships!
How has this whole music career experience been?
It has been a whirlwind! I’ve had my ups and downs, people telling me I can’t do it, versus people really believing in me. Everything I’ve experienced has shaped me into the person I am today and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m very excited for what comes next and I hope anybody who supports me is too!
Do you guys have any advice for aspiring music artists?
I am a strong believer in doing what you love. If music is what you love, go for it! Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t or that you won’t be successful. I’ve been bullied since the 6th grade for my music, but I never let it stop me. Sure it was rough, but I overcame the negativity and became a stronger person for it. Keep doing what you love and all the pieces will fall into place!
