Hey Rose! So excited to be chatting with you! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi! Well, I’m an artist born and raised in London, UK. I sing and write for both myself and producers in the industry. A lot of people ask if I write my own tracks, I certainly do! Other than that, I’m a huge astrology fan and lover of the color pink of course.

Where did your love of music come from?

I think my love for music has always been there. I remember putting on little music shows for my family as kid (I’d like to thank them for enduring those!) and I remember getting an ipod at around 10 and being utterly obsessed with it.

What artists do you look up to right now?

Billie Eilish is a huge inspiration right now. I think she proves that authenticity is such a huge part of reach a big fan base. She has this very genuine and laid back vibe to her which I think is awesome, plus she has such an angelic voice. Also, Lana Del Rey who I could pretty much talk about all day. I saw her live in Rome a few years ago and it was one of the best days of my life!

You just released your new single “Young God”! How excited were you to get this project out into the world?!?

I think I was more excited about this that anything else during the last few months of 2019. It’s a track that I feel genuinely shows off my voice well and it’s got a really uplifting feel to it which is a nice change of pace for my writing. It hit over 1,000 streams within a week and I couldn’t be more proud of myself and the work I put into it.

Can you tell us what this song means to you?

It’s pretty much a flashback of images to me when I listen to it. The lyrics are a collection of moments I treasured when I was last in California. So, it’s a sort of love letter to that trip in a sense. And it makes me so happy when I hear it and I can re live those amazing feelings.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I think they’ll realise I can write more than just melancholy love songs! I mean, I’ll still be writing those, but I’m happy they get to see the positive side of me.

Any fun moments while creating the song?

I think hanging out with my producer, Max Hurrell in the studio in LA and bonding over neither of us being USA natives. The nights we recorded the track and put it together were some really uplifting and happy memories of my trip.

Will there be a music video for your new single? If so can you spill any details about it?

A music video is something I’ve been considering for awhile now. But I think it’s all about finding the right people to work with who can translate your vision. And if I do make a video, I’ll want it to be in LA of course! So the next time I’m there, fingers crossed it will happen.

What other release plans do you have for 2020?

There’s a few things in the works. I’m planning a track with Max Hurrell again which is exciting because Young God was such a fun project. And I also have one other release coming up that I’m really eager to release soon. It’s a track that again highlights a side to me that I haven’t really shown to the public yet.

What do you hope your supporters will think from hearing your new music?

I hope they feel a little more connected to me than before.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?

Instagram is my favourite (I’m awful at twitter!) I love getting messages from fans of my music, it genuinely makes my day! My Instagram is @missrosebates
