Hey Dakota! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single “ADDICTED”! How excited were you for all your supporters to hear this song?!?

I have been waiting for so long for my fans to finally hear Addicted and the feedback has been amazing. I couldn’t wait!!!

What has been your reaction to all the success the new single has been having?

Everyone has been telling me that they love it. I am so grateful for the positive feedback and can’t wait to keep putting out more music. It’s the best feeling to have something you work so hard on to be appreciated and loved.

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

The main inspiration behind “Addicted” was based on a love that is so indescribable but all you know is that you want to be with that person 24/7, whether the feeling is reciprocated or not. Love is an emotion that is so addictive and people search for it their whole lives. It is something intangible and we all crave it.

Will there be a music video for the new single?

You’ll have to wait and see :))

Do you have more projects coming out in 2019!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to?!?

All I can say right now is that I am constantly working on new material and it is all very exciting. Projects are definitely in the works!

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

I have full creative control of my music and my projects. I write all of my songs and love every stage of the process.

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It is very scary, exciting, and empowering to put out original music. I worked so hard on my songs that it’s scary to see what people have to say about it, but all the positive feedback has me excited to put out more.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

My parents are my biggest supporters and I am so incredibly grateful. They help me with every step of the way and I can’t express my love and gratitude for them.

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

Strong, Beautiful, Loving

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want my fans to hear my music and feel empowered, like they’re not alone in the situations, happy, and like they can do whatever they want to do in life. My music is a reflection of my life experiences and thoughts. I want my fans to feel like they can relate and never feel alone. I am all about inclusion and empowerment, so my music truly eludes to that.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Happiness

With an already massive fanbase your fans must have a name for themselves. What do your fans call themselves? And how did that fanbase name catch on?

When I was on American Idol, my fans called themselves, Team Dakota.  I don’t think that we have come up with anything yet other than Team Dakota but I am open to any suggestions 🙂

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you, have you ever been starstruck?

The most starstruck I think I have ever been was when I met Lionel Richie. He is an absolute legend and I was in shock that I was in his presence. I couldn’t keep it together because it felt like a dream.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

Please come say hi! I love meeting new friends and appreciate every single one of you, so if you happen to see me, please please please come say hello!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

I think that it would be so cool to meet Ariana Grande. She is so influential in the business right now that I would love to meet her.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

As an DIY artist who does everything independently, social media is a way to connect with my fans. It allows them to get to know me on a personal level other than through my music. It is an outlet for them to see the real me and what I’m doing on a daily basis.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

I would love to start gigging out at different venues playing my original music so that I can get to connect with my audience face to face.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Love yourself and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t because you always can!
