Hey Cally! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single “Summer of My Life”! How excited were you for all your supporters to hear this song?!?

Thanks, me too! I always love releasing original music. It’s exciting when I get to show people what I’ve been creating and putting my energy into.

What has been your reaction to all the success the new single has been having?

The song’s received incredible feedback and great support from online blogs. It’s touching when I see people taking time out of their day to show me positivity and I couldn’t be more appreciative!

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

My music is always loosely based on situations that’ve happened in my life, so I can write more candidly and truthfully. I felt like it was important to write a song that captures my love of summer as I’m a pretty seasonal person and summer brings out the best in me!

You also have more music coming out in 2019!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to?!?

Without giving too much away, I am working hard on making music that’ll be a bit more personal to me. What you don’t hear in my current songs is that I’m a pianist, so going forward I’d like to showcase this a bit more around my vocals. I’m really looking forward to this!

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

I have THE creative say in all my music. I’m the writer of all the melodies and lyrics in my songs because it’s such an important part of the process to me. I adore writing songs about topics I love!

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It’s an amazing feeling. Any aspect of art whether it be music, poetry, photography, drawing, painting etc is fascinating! I have great respect for anyone who creates art so knowing I’m contributing to this is a gratifying feeling.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

My supportive family, Si Hulbert, my closest friend Tiffany, Steve Cusack for showing me the world of Spotify and finally every single person who’s listened to a song I’ve written and shown me positivity!

How would you describe your fans? – What’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

They’re encouraging, kind and loyal.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I’d love to think I show honesty towards my fans. I don’t pretend to be anything other than myself and base my music on situations in my life. Right now, nothing is fiction and I hope they can relate and feel that integrity.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Confidence.

With an already massive fanbase your fans must they have a name for themselves. What do your fans call themselves? And how did that fanbase name catch on?

I have seen a few people refer to themselves as Rhodies online which is funny and awesome. I’ve seen someone say they’re a #MusiCally before too! Very clever.

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you. Have you ever been starstruck?

Good question. I’m not easily starstruck because I value everyone equally as humans. Having said that there are a couple of people I find incredible. I bet Ariana Grande would be fun to meet as would Maddie Ziegler from Dance Moms. I’ve never seen a better dancer in my life!

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
That I’m super approachable but like a lot of people, I’m sometimes anxious. If I have ‘RBF’, it’s not your fault!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
I would love to have met Freddie Mercury. To me, he is a real legend and inspiration.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
I think it’s a great way to engage with people who listen to your music and I’m so lucky I can do that in real time! Having said that, I think it’s important to mention we shouldn’t take social media too seriously as it’s easy to compare your life with other people’s and I don’t think that’s always healthy.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

I’m not a materialistic person so I just want to write music that really moves people!

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Ignore negativity as much as you can. If anyone is bullying you online, report and block them. Don’t engage in trolling. The world is a massive place so for every positive comment, there may be a negative. We can’t control how strangers act online so do your best to keep a clear head, block them and move on.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!

You’re welcome!
