Hey Ria! Where did the inspiration for the song come from?

This song has been such a source of strength for me during a tough period in my life. Lyrically, it’s helped me close a chapter and has made me appreciate my circle of supportive friends even more.

Any fun moments while creating/recording the song?

I remember recording vocals for this single with my amazing mixing engineer this past summer. My best friend dropped by and we had so much fun together experimenting with different vocal effects and harmonies. Those sessions ended up adding a really cool layer to the song in the end and I’m so grateful for that.

What was it like working on the song with your producers in the UK?

It’s been really cool being able to work with people who I’ve never met thanks to living in today’s digital age. While working with different timezones can be tricky, they’ve been amazingly supportive and patient with me during the creative process.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

“Better” has taught me that it’s ok to let go, have hope and know that you deserve to never settle in a relationship – or in life! I hope others feel that same empowerment I feel when they hear this.

What’s the process of writing one of your songs?

For me creatively, I don’t really see genre when I’m making music, you know, whatever comes out, comes out. I don’t really put myself in a box in that sense. It’s really fun for me to be able to showcase not only my R&B and soul influences but also my jazz influences and my appreciation for classical music.

Where did your love of music come from?

I’ve been involved in the industry ever since I was a little kid. My mom had a career as a singer-songwriter in the industry for a long time until she decided to become a voice teacher. I’m proud to have her as mine to this day and she’s taught me so much about my own voice. Growing up around music, it just gets into your blood: my mom’s a voice teacher and my uncle is a film director, so I did my first music video at 6 to a cover of “Reflections” by Christina Aguilera, to give you an idea of what I’m talking about – haha. I’ve been singing my whole life but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started writing and developing as an artist. Jared and Simon, two amazing producers from the UK, came across my Instagram covers and we started working together online, which has really inspired me to tap into my artistry. You can find out more about my story in my bio here.

Will there be a music video for your new single?

I really don’t know yet. For now, I’m excited that the song is out there and doing really well.

Any other fun projects in the works you can tell us about?

Well, I’m really looking forward to next year. In February, I’ll be going to London to finally meet and work with the producers I’ve been collaborating with for the last couple of years. And you’ll definitely be hearing new music from me in 2020 and that’s all I can say for now, so please stay tuned. 🙂

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected with your supporters?

Based on my demographic, Instagram is my preferred social media platform for engaging with my supporters.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your supporters have allowed you to accomplish?

Transparency.

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Yes! I’ll be getting some really cool merch in soon and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
