Hey Kella! So excited to be chatting with you! Can you tell us a little bit about you?

Hi Ainsley! Thanks so much for having me. So my name is Kella, I’m an artist and songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. I’m originally from a small town in central Florida (pretty much Disney World), but I’ve also lived in Nashville, and London before that which is where I did a lot of songwriting and honing my skills. While I was in Europe, I took a trip to Stockholm and I met my producer Johannes Andersson. He’s been an absolute legend and has helped me find my sound as Kella.

What artists do you look up to right now?

My favorite artist at the moment is Jon Bellion. I think he’s an actual musical genius, his lyrics and production inspire me so much. My other favorite artists include Katy Perry, Tove Styrke, Kim Petras and Maroon 5.

You are gearing up for the release of your new single ”Jealous”! How excited are you to get this project out into the world?!?

I AM SO EXCITED. It’s honestly been a long time coming. I wrote this song back at the end of 2017, while I was living in Nashville. It is definitely one of my personal favorites because the lyrics mean a lot to me.

Can you tell us about what this song means to you?

This song means a lot to me because the lyrics were inspired by a real life relationship. I was involved in something that was honestly very unhealthy. During our off periods, he’d try to get attention by always being with other girls, but the truth is in the title. I didn’t love him enough to be jealous. I just wanted to move on and let him know that I was done dealing with it.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I hope my supporters are going to love the song as much as I do! I want them to feel empowered. I want them to know that if they ever find themselves in an unhealthy relationship, that it is very freeing to just walk away and not put up with the BS anymore. You are worth so much more than that.

Any fun moments while creating the song?

I recorded this song in Sweden and honestly the whole creative process was just so fun and so easy. It was amazing to see Johannes put production with the lyrics and melodies and see it all come to life. I would say the chorus was the most fun to make because we got to experiment with new and interesting sounds.

What does it feel like to perform your own music live in front of your supporters?

I haven’t actually played any of these new songs live yet! But I’m really excited to start playing shows towards the end of this year and into 2020!

How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?

Open and honest! Come have a conversation if you see me in the street, don’t just take a sneaky picture – I love to say hi and always love to hear your stories of how the music relates to you – it’s why I do what I do.

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

I was proposed to once…he was so unprepared, didn’t have a ring, didn’t buy me a drink….just asked me there and then…sweet sentiment but probably not the best approach for anyone…

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?

I mostly use Instagram. I’m probably on it more than I should be to be honest!

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

I’ll be releasing another song this year and I have a ton of new stuff coming next year! I cannot wait to share it with the world.

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Just a massive thank you for everything over the past few months since launching with Trainwreck and then Wanna Be Bad. Every little bit of support goes a long way to me and nothing goes unnoticed…I just want to say that you’re very loved and appreciated.
