Hey Penelope! So excited to be chatting with you! What inspired you pursue music?
Thank you guys for taking the time to chat with me! I don’t know that there was something specific that inspired me…it was just kind of always there in my life. Music is a part of me and I always felt like it needed to come out and say “here I am” lol
Where did your love of music come from?
I kind of grew up around music. My dad is a music producer and songwriter so ever since I was a baby I was in a recording studio with music blasting out of the speakers. I guess I don’t know what life without music is…lol It just makes me happy and is always with me.
How did you get started with Social Media?
I think we opened my Instagram when I was about 8 years old because I was so excited about singing and making my first song and music video. We started posting pictures and using it to promote and get the word out, but it was mostly my mom and my sister. I really didn’t start getting into my social media until I was a little bit older and my parents are always logged into my account and checking all the messages.
Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?
I think social media is important because it’s a free tool that gives you the chance of promoting and getting your music out there so people can hear it. As an independent artist that is the hardest thing to do and with social media you can find exactly who you want to show your music to and reach out to them directly if you want. Send a little note and say “Hey! If you have five minutes I would be so grateful if you checked out my song or my video, etc.” You’d be surprised how many people take the time and actually get back to you!
You just teamed up with 99 GoonSquad for your new single, “4 Leaf Clover”! How did you guys meet & start working on this song together?
We actually met on TikTok! I had been following their account for quite a bit and one day my mom just said “reach out to them” and I was like “hey! why not!?” lol So I reached out and we started a conversation about music and hopefully collaborating and here we are 🙂
What was it like working with them on this project?I
t was so much fun! They are sooo nice and the actual collaboration was really easy going…they sent me a track they thought would be a good fit and I wrote the melody and lyrics to it and they came down to my dad’s studio in Miami and we recorded my vocals. After that we started talking about the video and came up with the kind of Steampunk futuristic thing and it really has been such a positive experience!
Can you tell us the meaning behind your new single?
Four Leaf Clover is about how the magic of being lucky and chance. I am a big believer that if you really want something you have to put it out there in the universe. Eventually it will come to you 🙂
Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
Right now I’m working on the music video to my next single titled “Curious Curiosa” It’s super spunky and fun and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I’m also recording new music and learning some new musical instruments.
Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?
Absolutely…I love writing and I think it’s a big part of the magic. I have written on all of my songs 🙂
What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?
I feel very lucky. I think that being able to express your feelings through music and share that with the world is kind of amazing. If one person connects with what you are saying and it makes them feel something positive, then you have made a difference in that persons life. I get messages on my social media and emails from fans that tell me I’ve inspired them to sing or learn to play guitar, and for that I am so very grateful.
Will there be a music video for your new single? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video 🙂
There is! So the video to “Four Leaf Clover” is out and as you may have seen it’s about being in somewhat of another universe but always looking for that luck or special chance. My upcoming single is called Curious Curiosa and the video is going to be so much fun! I won’t give it away but I’ll just say I might have to have to go get myself some boxing gloves! lol
Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?
Omg, my family and my fans. I could not do any of this without them and without their amazing support. They have believed in me so much!
What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?
My fans <3 My Little Robins! I love them so much! I think if the in a very special way because they are taking this journey with me. I’m barely getting started and they make me feel like I’m on top of the world. I think it’s extremely cool that they have been with me since I had just a few followers on social media and I was a little girl. As I grow they are growing with me and they truly feel l like family.
How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?
They are so SUPPORTIVE, so AMAZING, and so beyond SPECIAL to me.
What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?
My message towards my fans is for them to follow their dreams and never let anyone bring you down. You can do anything you put your mind to as long as you do it with kindness and respect. If others try to undermine what you are doing, remember that at least you’re doing it! Ignore, look the other way and keep doing your thing! <3
Do you have any preshow rituals that help you get pumped up to meet your supporters?
Haha…I kind of start walking in little circles focusing on what my set list is and what I will be saying. lol I kind of disconnect completely from what’s going on around me…
Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?
Yes! I just came back from touring in the Northeast during the summer. I played for the girl scouts, summer camps, and did several malls and festivals. Now I have coming up another round of shows in Miami and I am hoping to get back out and tour some more asap! I think that’s my favorite thing in the world. Getting up on that stage and singing for 2, 100, or thousands of people…it’s an incredible feeling.
What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!
It’s the coolest thing ever! I love talking to my fans after shows and hearing how they came to see me perform because they saw it on my instagram or my TikTok! It really is so cool to be able to sing them my songs and to also share some covers that they know as well!
What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?
Always believe in yourself and be confident, but most of all be kind. Kindness is not too common these days, so give it a try and see how gratifying it is. It can change your whole dynamic in life.
What’s something your fans don’t know about you?
HAHA….So, for whatever reason I’ve always been petrified of cruise ships! It may have been the movie Titanic, but I just DO NOT like them! Sooo, last week I was asked to join a rescue mission to the Bahamas bringing supplies and rescuing evacuees. I of course jumped and agreed to do it, so excited to be a part of such an amazing experience and being able to help! Well, guess what! The rescue mission was on a cruise ship, and we slept on it too!!! I was mortified at first, but it didn’t stop me from going and I think I have now overcome my fear! lol It was actually one of the most unbelievable experiences I have ever been a part of and I am so thankful to have been able to help in any way.
What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?
It’s because of the that every single day I have a guaranteed reason to smile. There is always one comment or message that no matter what is happening in my life, it just makes me smile and laugh. I love them for that!
With an already massive fanbase your fans must they have a name for themselves. What do your fans call themselves? And How did that fanbase name catch on?
Omg thank you! I wouldn’t call it massive but my Little Robins and the best!! I don’t really know how it started but it just has kind of become a thing. I think it’s really fun!
Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you Have you ever been starstruck?
I have!!! I literally love cooking shows and Bobby Flay was my fav of favs! I had the chance of meeting him a few years ago and I started crying!! hahaha He was like “are you crying!” lol
What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
Come say hi!!! I want to take a picture with you and say hello! Sometimes people send me a message that they saw me but didn’t want to interrupt (which is so sweet), but do please come by and say hi to me <3
Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. I would cry all over again! lol No, but seriously they are my biggest inspirations both musically and professionally.
What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?
My biggest dream would be to record a song with Bruno Mars or TayTay 🙂 Wow! That would be AMAZING!
Any last things you want to tell your supporters?
I love you all so much and THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!
No, thank YOU!! You guy are awesome and I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity!
