Hello, Not Leaving Sober! Great to have you here!

N: Wuddup, y’all! Thanks for chopping it up.

J: Great to be here !!

What inspires you to work in this industry?

N: Music’s been coursing through my veins since I was little. I love music. I love writing. I love performing. For me, I just know this is what I was put here to do. I’m lucky to do it with my best friend who’s an absurdly talented musician. And I learn from him and get better every day!

J: The show. The gig. The performance. And if you get the chance to play and promote your own songs??? Thats one of the biggest drives for me to wake up and continue on in this industry. Plus, like Nico said, working with your best friends is a thrill and inspiring to keep grinding forward when you may not be in the greatest spot or situation.

What would be your dream collaboration?

N: Huge Morgan Wallen guy. That would be dope. Also love Luke Combs. Ya know what? Let’s get both of them on one track with us! A kid can dream.

J: I’ll just be honest: I’ve always wanted to do a collab with a dubstep artist. That’d be a trip.

What milestone are you working towards in your career this year?

N: We’re writing and recording a LOT. And I just wanna see these songs on the billboard charts, Spotify charts, Apple charts. All of it. I also wanna play festivals this year and big shows to big crowds. We’re itching to play gigs with the full band again.

J: Writing is a big priority of mine this year. Also playing with the band as much as possible. We’re trying to set up a tour for the band in the summer as well !!

What makes you feel most alive?

N: I’ll never, ever go skydiving. I always tell people performing is my skydiving. Being on stage is the biggest adrenaline rush for me. Singing, working for a crowd– that is pure bliss to me.

J: Singing !! When I’m in a good, open voice, getting a beautiful spin, yeah. Nothing beats that. Otherwise, I enjoy alcohol, skateboarding/surfing, motorcycles, beautiful women … the finer things in life.

N: I’m a huge fantasy football guy. I’m also obsessed with Christmas. So besides music, those are some things that get my blood going.

How often do you write songs?

N: We’ve been getting together for a songwriting sesh once a week lately! Me, Jimmy, and our best friend, Joe, just became roommates this year. So we sit down, crack some beers and get to writing and it honestly feels like we’re just getting a buzz on, having fun. But it’s productive and magical. We have a kegerator in the kitchen, by the way…

J: We’ve recently had a huge creative spark, so very frequently. We bounce ideas off each other all the time, so luckily the songs have just been piecing themselves together.

N: We wrote “Chasin’ Tequila” over FaceTime actually during the lockdown! That was fun. We’d just call each other back and be like “Hey, I got an idea for the hook”.

What is one thing you’ve had to learn the hard way!

N: The music industry is weirdly beautiful in a sense. You absolutely have to love the process. The back work, the doubt, the self-investment, all of the things that you have to do behind the scenes to find any success as a musician. As a kid, I definitely wanted to just put music out and watch it blow up. There’s so much more that goes into it. I’ve learned to love it but I can’t say I always have.

J: Take absolutely nothing that you are thankful about for granted.

What is your favorite kind of cereal?

N: Lucky Charms. Not up for discussion. If you can get your hands on the box with the 25% more marshmallows you’re in business. Honorable mention: Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

J: Neek clearly must’ve never had Life cereal before.

N: Ew, dude.
