Hey Nicole!! We are so excited to be chatting with you! Can you tell our readers a little about yourself?
NM: Hi! My name is Nicole Michelle and I am a 17-year-old recording artist from Southern New Hampshire. I just graduated high school during this insane time and I am so excited to be pursuing music full time with my team from the record label “Illtown Sluggaz”.
We were so excited to learn you have been working on your debut album!! What’s been your reaction to the fans anticipation for your debut album?
NM: I’m just so anxious to release more music. I get asked every day when new music is coming out, I promise you it is coming so extremely soon and it’s worth the wait. So far, I’ve had such a positive response on the two singles (Whatever I What and Phenomenon) I’ve already released, I’m hoping fans will feel the same way about the new singles coming their way.
How excited are you to get this album out into the world?
NM: I’m so pumped!! I’ve been recording music with KayGee and Vin Rock from Naughty by Nature and their team including Grammy nominated writing/producing duo Lady And A Tramp for over a year now and releasing this music with them is honestly a dream come true.
Do you have any idea when we will be able to hear this album!?!
NM: I’m releasing a lot of these songs as singles over the course of this summer and fall on all digital streaming platforms. I would expect to hear a new single from me within about a month or sooner!!!
Ahead of your album, you have released two amazing singles, “Whatever I Want” and “Phenomenon” and they have gotten an amazing reaction from your supporters! Can you tell us what these songs mean to you?
NM: Whatever I Want is such a positive and upbeat song written by Lady And A Tramp. It is about going for what you want in life despite what other people may think. This is such an important message that I always carry with me. Phenomenon is a really dope R&B type of song written by Kortland Jackson and Eric Hall. My team and I just filmed an awesome music video for it last week and it will be out on YouTube within a week! 🙂
What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music?
NM: I really hope my supporters will love all of the new music. I think it’s so fun and reflects a positive attitude towards the world and I want people to feel that too.
How do you want your relationship to be like with your supporters?
NM: I absolutely love meeting my supporters or even just talking to them through social media. We’re lucky to be able to stay connected with today’s technology. I hope to always feel close (and vice versa) to my supporters.
What’s something your fans don’t know about you?
NM: Something that my fans might not know is that I absolutely love being in planes and flying. This is really convenient with how much I travel.
What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
NM: If you ever see me in public, come say hi!!! I’d absolutely love to meet you and take a picture with you.
What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?
NM: I just want my fans to have as much fun as I’m having. Music is such a beautiful way of escaping reality for just a little bit. I’m hoping my songs and shows can provide some sense of happiness for my fans and supporters.
What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?
NM: My dreams! I still have a long way to go before I’m 100% satisfied with my career, however, I’ve already accomplished so many of my dreams and I’m only 17. Without my fans and supporters, this wouldn’t be possible.
Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
NM: I am absolutely dying to meet SZA and Kehlani. They are my favorite female R&B singers and I’ve been a huge fan for a few years. Last week SZA liked one of my posts on Instagram and I’m still freaking it about it.
What was it like having Jeff Timmons discover you?
NM: Working with Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees was such a fun experience. I was only 15 when I started working with Jeff and I learned so much from him and his writing partners Matt and Craig. I’ll never forget the energy Jeff brought into the studio during every single session we worked together.
You have also opened for major recording acts including the New Kids On The Block’s Mixtape Tour, Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Alessia Cara, Dua Lipa and The Backstreet Boys! What were these experiences like for you?
NM: These experiences were all so different and each one was incredible. My favorites were meeting and performing on the same show as Alessia Cara I really admire her. And performing on the NKOTB Mixtape Tour with Naughty by Nature. This was genuinely a dream come true and I got to do it with people I love.
Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
NM: Social media is such a huge and important aspect of being an artist in today’s industry. Social media is basically the only way for fans to connect with artists they love directly. It’s also the main way for artists to let fans know what they’re up to and keep them engaged.
What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?
NM: My biggest goal is honestly just to continue what I’ve been doing just advancing to higher levels. As long as I’m successfully doing music in the future, I will be happy.
Any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
NM: I am super excited to let everyone know about my collaboration with Dune Jewelry. I’ve been working with the Dune team to come up with a few core designs that speak to my love of nature and the outdoors. The Nicole Michelle Collection currently consists of a butterfly, dragonfly and an insignia necklace and we are working on adding on a capsule collection that will launch in a few months. Check it all out on their website – www.dunejewelry.com. My single Whatever I Want was featured in a Dune Jewelry commercial and Ad campaign – check it out here: https://youtu.be/oS2M7AWPg50
