Answered by Alexandra Amor, singer of Young Thieves

How did you guys first meet?

Timing definitely played an important factor as it did our current manager, Mark Woodbridge, connecting us to record a Demo together. I was at the time ending a 2 year contract with my previous management and the boys were restructuring their band, looking for a new lead singer. Mark called me and asked, “Hey Al, would you be interested in this electro-pop indie project?” the next day I was on a bus to Philly to record a demo, meeting Dmitry Libman & Andrew Lynch for the very first time. We’ve been make history ever since that day.

Can you tell us a little bit about each of you?

Alexandra Amor (vocals), Dmitry Libman (guitar/keyboards/production), Andrew Lynch (guitar/keyboards) and Johnny Coryn (drums).

How would you describe your musical style?

Electro-Indie/ Pop four piece.

What artists do you look up to right now?

Halsey, Alicia Keys, Ke$has – Pray song + movement really touched my heart.

Can we expect any new music soon?

We just dropped our first single “What You Want” available on Spotify & Apple Music.

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

We’re completing our first EP as Young Thieves, dates will be announced soon. Follow our Instagram.com/WeAreYoungthieves for the quickest updates!

What’s the process of writing one of your songs?

Dmitry produces the track, we create melodies and begin writing. A lot of the Ep also has other songwriters I co-write with.

Your latest release “What You Want” has gotten a great reaction from your supporters, How did the song get created?

For this particular record Dmitry produced a track that captured elements of a funk/ disco/ 80’s era. The track is just as playful as the lyrics. I love this song specifically for the reverse cinderella story it tells, Girls see’s and seeks after the boy. I grew up with society telling me to sit pretty and speak when spoken to. More girls need to be told they can get whatever they set their heart after.

How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?

personal, interactive and on going. We provide the gas, they take the wheel. I truly believe the fans are everything after the music is created, they choose our destiny and I can’t wait to build on and then meet everyone of you guys!

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

At our first sold out show at Webster Hall, Kristen Parker rode a bus over 16 hrs from Canada to New York, with a bouquet. This moment was surreal as she has been following my journey for 10 years now. I was screaming and hugged her SO tight (pre performance). She constantly has been a reminder as to why I do what I do, throughout my career. Love you K-fed!

What social media platform do you guys use most to stay connected to your fans?

Instagram, with the different features such as ig stories/ live streams/ DMs I would say this outlet allows for direct connection.

What goals have you guys set out for yourselves in your career?

ep followed by world domination.

Do you guys have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

You rock and follow our Spotify!!! It’s just the beginning.
