Watch “You and Elvis”

Rising country-pop artist, Montana Modderman, has released her highly anticipated music video for her Hollywood Music in Media award nominated single, “You and Elvis”.

Heavily influenced by country music legends like Shania Twain and Faith Hill, Montana felt the need to follow in their steps by creating her own music. Montana began learning how to play the guitar on her own in addition to writing original songs at the tender age of eleven. Though Montana fell in love with all aspects of music, her focus was, and still is, in the lyrical artistry of country music.

Serving as the closing track from her debut EP, For The Record, “You and Elvis” illustrates Montana’s lyrical prowess. A modern country song with twinges of classic undertones, “You and Elvis” creates a feeling of nostalgia in listeners of varying ages. Throughout the track, Montana speaks of the difficulty former lovers face when someone they care so deeply about becomes a faintly familiar figure.

The music video for “You and Elvis” is a vintage filtered escape. Through frames of sepia tinted vignette, Montana is seen in a cozy home, alone. The same home that was once the dance floor for her lover and Elvis ballads. Lyrics of “The silence is deafening after you and Elvis left the building” juxtaposed with the vintage flair of the video create a nostalgia for an era even before our time.

Montana decided to take her musical gift a step further halfway through her college years. It wasn’t long until she released her debut single, “Didn’t Mean To”. Since the July 2018 release date, the single garnered 320K streams on Spotify and was listed as Woman of Country’s Top Twenty Songs of 2018. Following “Didn’t Mean To”, Montana released her debut EP, “For The Record”, which was named one of the Best Albums of 2019 by Woman of Country. In addition to being nominated for a Hollywood Music In Media Award, “You + Elvis” has also won a World Songwriting Award for Best Modern Country Song. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for future releases from the rising country singer/songwriter.
