Hey Merit 🙂 You are well known for your role on Netflix’s hit show, ALEXA & KATIE. Can you explain the process of how you got this role?

Initially, I was called in to auditioned for the roles of Alexa and Katie, and then they decided to have me in for Hannah. I did a producer’s session and some mix and matches with other actors. Then after a couple of weeks my manager Lucia and my agent Tina got me on a conference call to tell me that I booked the role.

Can you explain the character you portray?

Hannah is an offbeat addition to the squad. She doesn’t always understand what’s happening and often takes things too literally, so you never know what she’ll say next! The fantastic writers make her think differently than everyone else in the room, and that’s why I’m having a great time playing her.

How did your passion for acting come about?

When I was a little kid I always wanted to be in the “magic box,” and one day when I realized that it was possible to actually do that, and so there was no stopping me.

What do you think makes this show stand out from other shows that have been aired on Netflix?

“Alexa and Katie” manages to tackle tough topics while being funny and engaging without taking anything away from the serious moments. Bringing light to something that’s often dark, I think that’s important.

What do you like most about being on a show that’s aired on Netflix?

Netflix is an inspiring place to work. “Alexa and Katie” and “She- ra and the Princess Of Power” that I’m also on are both groundbreaking shows in their genres. I’m not sure what other outlets would have created these types of shows, oh and the exciting side bonus is getting to binge watch all the episodes at once!!!

What’s your favorite part about being on “ALEXA & KATIE”?

There’s a lot of things I love about being on set of “Alexa and Katie.” We have such a great cast and crew, it feels like a second family when we are in production. I especially love being able to hang out with my best buddy Finn Carr who plays Jack, he’s such an awesome and talented kid!

Season 2 just premiered recently and has already gained a lot of attention!! Can you spill any details about the new season to any of your fans who haven’t seen the new season yet?

A lot of tea gets spilled, and it gets pretty serious, so make sure to binge the whole season!

What was your favorite part about being on set this season?

Being able to see Hannah’s house! When I got the script for that episode, I was like WHAT??!! There’s a party at Hannah’s house?! It was pretty incredible to watch them build it on the soundstage.

Are there any other acting projects in the works you can tell us about?

I’m so proud about being part of “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” from Dreamworks, I play the youngest princess Frosta in the new reboot! Season one is streaming on Netflix now!

Did you have a favorite role you played? If so what was the role and why was it your favorite?

So hard to choose but I have to say playing the head of my own kingdom in Etheria with some massive ice powers is hard to beat. Frosta is a dream come true!

You have also created a huge social media presence for yourself. Why do you think social media is so important for teen actors today?

Social media is a way for people to come together that have common interests giving them a chance to find people that love what they love. That to me is the best part of social media, and that’s the element that makes it exciting and fun. For actors it’s essential because their social media numbers often come into play in the casting process, it’s sad but true. It’s part of my job and but I have fun with it and focus on the positive aspects.

How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?

I’d like it to be real and genuine, something I plan to focus on more in the coming year. A place where I can say how I feel, the good and the bad and I hope that the community will support me and each other through it all.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?

Mostly Instagram and Instagram stories, but I’m trying to be more active on twitter lately too.

Does your fan base have a name?

No, but if I end up deciding on one, I would want it to be meaningful.

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

Well, they are all crazy because I still find it amazing that I have fans!! Meeting fans, especially the little kids who are watching my voice over work or Alexa and Katie just make my day.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you! Everyone that follows and supports my work is literally a part of my success. I can’t thank them enough for caring and being there through thick and thin.

Thanks for taking the time and doing this interview 🙂

Thank you 🙂 #virtualhugs
