Hey Matthew!! So excited to be chatting with you. You just released your new EP!! Can you tell us what this project means to you?
Thank you for giving me the time to talk about my music! So this EP is called the IN/LIGHT EP and it has a larger story behind it, but what I really love about it overall is the message of hope and belonging it provides. It is my story in a lyrical perspective but I also believe its everyone’s story.
What’s been your reaction to the fans anticipation for your new project?
I have heard great feedback from all of them. The EP has been out for about a month and a half now and we have a steady feedback of streams coming in daily. So I believe that people are continuing to enjoy it. One of the first things I hear from the fans is they love the fact that they can hear the gritty guitars. Which makes me more than happy haha
How excited were you to get this project out into the world?
A couple of these songs had been years in the works. So to finally be able to release them into the world was almost a relief. I had to keep the music to myself for so long and now that its out there I feel blessed to hear that they love it as well!
What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music?
I hope that they find it original and fun to listen to. That every song sounds different enough from each-other that they can hear the diversity in the songwriting.
Do you have a favorite song off the EP?
The song “Hail/Selah” Its got this lo-fi/hip-hop vibe that is super chill and it is so fun to play!
What’s up next for you after the release of this EP? A tour maybe?
The plan was to start playing some events and show this Sumer… but that all kinda went down the drain after the world events that started to happen. So, because we are stuck indoors, my Co-Writer and myself have started working on EP #2 and #3 haha they will be slated to release at different times this year.
How do you want your relationship to be like with your supporters?
I just want to hang. I love people and want to play music that creates very Spiritual environments for us to explore faith in. So if I wanted them to see me as anything, I hope its just a chill guy that likes to play music.
What’s something your fans don’t know about you?
I watch a LOT of anime
What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
Come talk to me! I’m not gonna pretend like I’m cooler than anyone lol
What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?
We ALL Belong. It’s that simple. I hope that after you hear the EP or you leave a show, that you begin to see that you belong in this crazy beautiful world of individuals. You were made special and you have a place in this time and space.
What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?
Freedom. To feel free and safe to release music that is very close to me.
Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
The man, Justin Bieber
Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
It gives us a glimpse into the personal lives of the people we look up to. It helps us see that they are human just like us and we can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it and work hard!
What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?
To have a sustainable music career. Im not looking for Millions. I just want to make enough for my Wife (Christen) and I to live comfortable while I get to create music that brings people together and hang!
Any last things you want to tell your supporters?
Thank you for all the support you have given me so far this year and be ready for more music later this year! Once all this pandemic stuff is over, we are gonna play some shows!
