Exclusive Premiere: Olivia Ooms Music Video BTS Footage
Hey Olivia! So excited to be chatting with you. Your new single “California Country” has been getting an amazing reaction from your supporters!! What’s been your reaction to all the success the new single has been having?!?
I am pleasantly surprised and overjoyed with the attention the song has been getting. It’s incredible to think that so many people in all parts of the world have heard my voice!
Can you tell us the meaning of the song and how it came about?
It’s a song about my life growing up on Country music in Southern California surrounded by friends who love to surf and have fun in the sun! We grew up going to the beach but I’m such a Country girl at heart that the lyrics bring both my loves together: “Staring at the same star seen in the Deep South.”

We are so excited to be premiering the BTS video for your new single, “California Country”. Can you tell us about the new video & how the idea got created?
I am so excited to have Teen Music Insider premiering the behind-the-scenes of “California Country!” David Javier is an amazing director! When he heard the song, he immediately thought that a fun road trip with friends should be the central theme. We collaborated and brainstormed through all the shots and locations and came up with what we feel is a relatable, authentic and often humorous storyline. Our behind-the-scenes video, shot by Grace and Drake, really captures the fun I had filming with my band! And being able to showcase my hometown of Huntington Beach really means a lot to me!
Any fun moments while on the set?
Never a dull moment with this group! Roller skating, surfing, line dancing on the pier at sunset are just a few of the things we did that make this music video so special! One of the funniest memories is when we took off in our caravan from Mamas. Larson was driving the truck with the trailer, and my dad thought he was going to turn right around, but he just kept on going! Or when my mom was negotiating with the park ranger who said our music was too loud, to just let us stay a little longer.
With such a massive following, why do you think social media is so important to artists today?
I love social media! You just can’t let it rule your life. You have to take it with a grain of salt. It’s a great place to connect and have fun keeping up with friends and fans that I otherwise don’t get to see very often. And it’s a vital platform for our songs to be heard!
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
Instagram is definitely my top social media go-to! But I love them all!
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I love anyone who is open to my music and sees me for who I am: a teenage girl juggling public school, a growing career, extracurricular activities, friends and family. I want them to know I am just like them and that I work hard, don’t give up, stay focused, have fun and stay grounded by going to church. I am grateful and excited about a very long future with my fans as I grow my music and reach!
Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
Yes! My “California Country” official music video will be debuting on BILLBOARD. Com September 30th! I can hardly wait for that day! I also have a new song called “Baggage” that will be released this fall. I have many live performances coming up as well that can all be found on my website www.oliviaooms.com.
Any last things you would like to tell your supporters?
Thanks for coming along on this journey and for “Riding the Waves” with me!! Get ready, the best is yet to come!
