Hey Asher! So excited to be chatting with you! You recently released your new single “I’ve Changed” & it’s awesome! Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

I’ve Changed is talking about that change we all make in our lives where we discover who we are. I was bullied at school for years and that really destroyed my confidence and self-esteem but when I discovered music I started to become more confident and started to find out who I am and what I wanted to do. When this started to happen some people didn’t like the change, I lost a few friends. People wanted me to be the shy, intimidated person I was and not the person I am now more confident and 100% myself.

You also have more music coming out in 2020!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to next year?!?

I don’t wanna spill too much but the music coming will hopefully show my growth as an artist and a person. The last year has been amazing having worked with the most inspirational people who have helped me grow. My music is always like a diary of my life, and will reveal more and more about myself.

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

Yes, my team are amazing at allowing me to express my opinion. If I feel really strong against something I let them now and we talk it out and figure out what todo going forward. As I grow, I am getting more and more involved in the writing, I am really involved in the ideas and concepts of the songs which is fun.

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

Honestly it’s a little weird. My whole life I have heard other peoples songs and it’s weird hearing my own music, when I have heard it on the radio I feel odd as my dream is coming true.

Will there be a music video for your new single? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video 🙂

All I can say is you will have to wait and see !!

What’s been the pros and cons of moving to London to pursue your music career?

That’s hard as literally moving anywhere is hard but for me it was trying to make new friends, it’s taken me years. I have only in the past year really become confident enough to put myself out there to make friends, but that was the hardest part. I was lucky enough to visit family in London so I was not too comfortable being all of a sudden in a huge city !! The best part is your in the heart of creativity, everyone is pretty much here and you find inspiration everywhere.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

My mentor CeCe Sammy and my family, between them they have helped me grow as a person and allowed me to become who I am.

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

Mine is so diverse, I have young teenagers to parents and grandparents who are fans. I have had messages telling me how a mum and daughter bonded over my music.

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

Strong, passionate and inspiring !!!

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want them to take away the fact that we all go through hard times but if we keep pushing through we can achieve anything. My performances have deep moments and then have those hype moments, where I get everyone jumping and dancing.

Do you have any preshow rituals that help you get pumped up to meet your supporters?

So every show it changes depending who I am with. In the dressing room we have loud music and everyone is involved in the song selection then just before stage I have started doing this new thing that one of my dancers introduced to me where we shake our hands, and legs counting down, which is fun and loosens me up before going on stage.

Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?

So currently I am on tour with Will Young which is great as I grew up hearing his music !! Then after this tour I travel over to America where I will be doing a few shows, which is exciting.

What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!

I love it !! For last year I have opened up for Boyzone, All Saints, The Vamps and now WIll Young, every show I perform my own music and I love how people might have never heard it before but then instantly connect with it.

You are also a brand ambassador The Power of Muzik. Can you tell us how you got involved with this cool project?

My mentor CeCe Sammy founded Power of Muzik, I was told what it was all about and asked if I wanted to get involved where I said Yes. Going into schools to talk about music, anti-bullying is very important to me.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

I want them to know I think it’s important to be true to yourself. I was bullied for being myself and I ended up hiding away, but when I started to be myself again the best moments in my life have happened.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

I love to read !! I have Dyslexia and really struggled at school but when I left school I started reading books that I loved.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

My fans have allowed me to accomplish many things !! Main one is helping me inspire people, they have spread the word about my message which is so amazing.

With an already massive fanbase your fans must they have a name for themselves. What do your fans call themselves? And How did that fanbase name catch on?

They don’t have one yet I don’t believe ahaha Need to do a Q&A on instagram to come up with one ahaha

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you Have you ever been starstruck?

So I don’t really get starstruck when meeting huge celebrities. I don’t know why but people I get starstruck over it people like my Choreographer Travis Payne, I was a dancer before anything to do with music so when I met him for the first time, I stuttered and started shaking. I am norming starstruck from people that are not famous in the sense of singers, actors but starstruck by choreographers, songwriters and producers ahaha

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

I want them to know they can always come talk to me !!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

YES !!!! So where do I start, Beyonce, Janet Jackson who I most likely would be start struck over ahah Then the list goes on and on when it comes to songwriters, producers etc

Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?

Well it’s important so they can follow me ahaha JOKING !! It’s important because they connect with friend wherever they maybe.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

My biggest dream and goal is to become the best I can possibly be as a person and as a performer/artist.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

There is a lot coming !! I can’t wait for you guys to find out !!
