Hey Chris, So excited to be chatting with you! Since it’s officially fall! How was your summer?

Thank you for having me! My summer was super busy. I just graduated college in May and have been working on Oxygen ever since. We just released Part I of the project and the music video, and we’re working on Pt. II right now!

You just release your new Ep “Oxygen EP, Pt. 1”. How did the idea for this EP come about?

I have a bunch of songs I’ve been working on over the past year, and when it came time to sit down and organize a project, Oxygen felt like the title track right off the bat. For a while, my desk looked like a serial killers’ wall – lines connecting different titles, scribbles about each song, things crossed out and re-written, lots of different colored notecards, but eventually, the rest of the songs just fell into place. Part I had a darker, more atmospheric feel, and part two had a more hopeful, upbeat vibe, and Oxygen was a perfect bridge between the two. I can’t wait until Part II is released and everyone can hear the whole album together!

Any fun moments while creating the EP?

The whole creative process was a lot of fun, but one of my favorite parts was shooting the music video for “Oxygen”. I got to roll around on the floor covered in paint, that was a blast, and getting to act with Abigail was awesome, she’s a great actress and made it so much easier to bring the story to life.

What’s your favorite song off the EP?

Ooh, that’s hard! They’re all really personal to me, but Burn has a really special place in my heart. I wrote it while the cathedral at Notre Dame was on fire earlier this year. It was one of those songs that just came out so fast – I was very moved seeing an iconic building that represented hope and goodness for so many people in flames. I still cry whenever I sing it.

You also just released a new song last Friday!! How excited are you that this song is finally out?

I feel great! People seemed to really resonate with “Crossfire”, so I’m excited it’s the second single from the record.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I just hope they can connect with it in some way. It could be a life-changing experience for some, or just a fun song to jam with in the car, it’s not my job to dictate which one. I just make the music, and if people get something out of it, I’m happy.

What do you want your music to do for your fans? What do you want your message to be?

You’re not alone. That’s what I want my message to be. When I’m writing, I’m writing for myself and my own experience – music is my coping skill and how I process, and if my songs can be that same safe place where people can connect and process their own emotions with me, I’ll have done well.

Are there any projects in the works you can tell us about?

Oxygen Pt. II is just around the corner! There are also some other singles in the works too that I can’t say much about yet, but I’m stoked to release them!
