You just released your amazing new single “Deja Vu” and it’s gotten an amazing reaction from your supporters. What has been your reaction to all the success the single has gotten?

Thank you so much! Honestly, this song is really special to me because it’s the most vulnerable and specific that I’ve ever gotten with a song regarding something I’ve walked through, and to see that everyone is loving it and reacting so well to it really is such an unexplainable feeling! I am so happy that it’s resonating so well with so many people! The messages and texts that I’ve been receiving from everyone is insane, and makes what I do so worthwhile

Can you tell us how the song came about?

Well, I had just gone through, yet another, failed 3-4 months of dating someone who seemed so great in the beginning and like they were ready to be in an intentional relationship, but about 2 months in they started doing all of the things that raised red flags for me in other relationships, and I was like “wow, this is so familiar” and that’s how the song idea was born and then it was formed into this cool, vibey, yet vulnerable creation!

Can you tell us the meaning behind “Deja Vu”?

Deja Vu is about going through the same things over and over again in a relationship where you feel like you can’t escape them, but you know you should because you’re just going to keep going through the same things with them over and over again, and they’re never going to change.

Any fun moments while creating the song?

Honestly, creating music is always fun! I think the best part was realizing that my co-writer, Jonathan Perkins, had been through similar things as a guy. I think as women, we get in this mindset that we’re the only ones who deal with this stuff (which I do think we deal with it more on a larger scale) but it was fun to hear his side of it.

What’s the process of writing one of your songs?

Typically I write with a producer in the room a lot, so I’ll go in and they’ll build a track to work through and then we work on the lyrics/melody and then record vocals. I’ll sit with the song for a few days, and If I love it, I’ll have them produce it out to be a single!

What does it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

Honestly, It’s SO awesome to have an outlet to put my feelings and experiences out into the world, but it’s kind of nerve-wracking at times. There’s so much that goes into a release, and as an independent artist, everything that has to be done falls on you, which is a lot. You never know what’s going to happen or how people are going to react to it either, so there’s a lot of mixed emotions, but overall, it’s really exciting!

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want my fans to feel like they have someone that relates to them- someone who has walked through or is walking through the same things as they are. I want them to feel loved, seen and valued, and I hope that I get to meet all of them one day to make them feel that way!

How do you want your relationship to be with your supporters?

I want them to feel like they really know me! I always try to respond to fans whenever they reach out or message me! I get a LOT of messages, so sometimes I have a hard time keeping up, but for the most part, I always try to build a relationship with my people! I also keep it very real on my instagram stories, so if you want to see what a goofball I really am, go check it out – I don’t really hide much 🙂

Does your fanbase have a name?

Not yet, but I’ve been getting this question a LOT lately, so I feel like it’s time to create a name for my people! If anyone has any ideas, feel free to IG message me some thoughts!

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your supporters?

Instagram, for sure! But I do have a presence on other social platforms. I’m just ALWAYS posting to Onstagram and checking my messages there!

What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?

In my career, I’d like to hit 1 million streams on a single song before the end of the year. I also really need a manager and a booking agent – definitely at that point now, so building a great team is a must this year. In my personal life, my goal this year is simply to not be so hard on myself. I put myself under a lot of pressure to perform a certain way, and some times I’m really hard on myself when things happen that I can’t control, so just to be more aware of that.

How has this whole music career experience been?

A consistent rollercoaster full of good and not so great outcomes, but it’s always been interesting…I’ll tell you that!

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

That I am so, incredible thankful for you guys. Thank you for always supporting and loving on me, and thank you for coming along on this crazy ride with me. I love you guys so much! & if you haven’t yet, come hang out with me on my socials because I’m fun, I promise.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this interview with us.
