Hey Alexandra ? Your latest single is so powerful and has such a great message! What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song? & What do you hope they’ll get from hearing your new song?
Thank you! “Flame’ was inspired by my mom, who recently passed away from cancer. I wanted to do a song for her before she passed, but I couldn’t get it done in time, it all happened so fast. So I made it in honor of her. She has never been the kind of person to let something get her down. I never heard her complain. I think she was truly a light to other people, in that, she just led such a great example, for having faith, and strength, and being fearless. I really wanted to do a song that she could still inspire others, even though she may not be here with us physically , she can still be that light to others. I wanted to send a message to others, to never let anything put out your flame, despite the situation you’re going through. The song has two meanings, because I want it to be relatable to everyone. The song, at first listen, is talking about this terrible person that you’re in a relationship with, when in actuallity, this “terrible person or situation”, is cancer. I hope that it can mean whatever it needs to mean to someone, to help them get through whatever they are being faced with. I am also donating a percentage of the proceeds to cancer research, in honor of everyone who has gone through it, is going through it, and those who it effects.
You also have more music coming out in 2019!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to?
Yes, I’m very excited, I’ll be going to Nashville in June to work with Andrew Gomez on a new song. I am not sure of all the details myself, but I am very excited about it. I plan to do something similar with this upcoming song, that I did with this one, in that, I plan on donating a portion of the proceeds to something else that’s very close to my heart, which is mental health/homelessness.
What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?
It’s very exciting! I had always been very shy growing up, even though this has always been my dream, so when I finally started working on my own music, it was such a big deal for me, and it makes me so happy to work on my own music.
Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?
Yes. God mostly, my family, my friends, coworkers, Dena Murray (my voice teacher), fans, and people I’ve worked with and helped writing all my songs. You are all such an inspiration, and I don’t know where I would be without you all. oh and I can’t forget… my baby beagle named Beagle. 🙂
What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?
Thank you all so much for how much support you’ve given me, and my best advice is, to never let yourself stand in the way of your dreams, because you’re the only one who can. I want them to know that no one person can get anywhere by themselves, without the help of others, so be supportive of eachother! 🙂
Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?
Yes, I’ve had a few already, and this weekend my sister and I will be performing my new song at the Walk for Hope in Roswell NM where I’m from.
What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?
I would love to hear their opinions, and to see if I’ve had any impact on them, or helped them in any way.
Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?
Yes! I would love love love to meet Mark Ronson. I think he’s amazing. Also, I would love to meet Christina Aguilera, she’s always been my favorite, and I look up to her so much!
Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
I think social media is important for artists now, because that’s where everyone gets their updates, and it’s the best way to advertise. I also think it’s cool because then you get more of inside look to an artists’ life.
