Welcome to TMI Alexander – we are thrilled to talk with you today. We LOVE your new duet with Dylan Conrique. Can you tell us how this song came about and the inspiration for the record?
thank you! this record is so so special. it’s dylan’s song originally, and when she asked me to be on a duet version, i was truly honored as the song is so beautiful and so incredibly meaningful. it was a really hard verse to write for a few reasons, but mainly because the subject matter is so heartbreaking… and also because the song wasn’t mine to begin with, i wanted to make sure everything i wrote was very respectful and stayed true to Dylan.
What do you hope fans feel after hearing the new record?
i just want them to feel in general. the thing that’s so special about art is that it’s completely subjective. what i feel when i listen to the song is going to be completely different than that of someone else!
Can you share some of your favorite lyrics in the song?
i love the first few lines in the chorus as they are all about trying to remain positive in one of the hardest times someone could go through.
What is your writing process when making new music?
heartbreak !! and big feelings !! it all has to start when i needed to talk about something. then from there dialing it in and putting melodies and words to that feeling.

working away as hard as i can on my album! updates soon:)
You also just got back from touring! What was lifelike on the road for you?
i love touring. it’s definitely a weird way of living as you give up your home base and have to say goodbye your friends and family for a while, but the shows make every possible downside so incredibly worth it!
Any fun/funny moments you can spill from tour!?!
on a day off, my guitarist and i went to walmart and got RC cars. we were racing them around the parking lot until a storm started to roll through. turns out the storm was nearly a tornado and the winds were literally pushing us over until we finally made it back inside! pretty scary in the moment but very funny to think about it now.
Do you plan to go on tour again anytime soon?
yes! i head back out on tour with the incredible eric nam sept. 21 to oct. 16! sooo excited.

i’m 6’1. everyone thinks shorter
i’m a HUGE family person and miss canada like crazy
i love cars.
i’m a hopeless romantic
i hate avocados
