Pop songstress and multi-instrumentalist Zoey G released her new single, “We’re Not Close Anymore.” Following up her sensational debut, “Runaway,” the new track combines traditional pop with bass heavy electronic production and delicate, yet, potent vocal delivery. The infectious pop track is bound to resonate with fans of Zara Larsson, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. “We’re Not Close Anymore,” is now available for download and streaming worldwide on your favorite digital music platform.
Born in Missoula, MT, Zoey G moved with her family to Colorado at the age of three. At just four years old, she displayed a gift for music, and began taking piano lessons. Raised in a musically inclined family, Zoey always felt inspired. As a result, she picked up several instruments over the years, including the alto saxophone, drums, guitar, bass and ukulele. In 2016, she began songwriting. Though her music career is just beginning, her songwriting exhibits a maturity and thoughtfulness that is uncommon amongst her peers.
Zoey G’s latest single, “We’re Not Close Anymore,” is a testament to her ability to write an irresistible pop single. Her new song tells the story of a relationship lost, “My mom was right when she said I was getting used / You’re just like all of them, so why am I confused?” she sings. The electronic production combined with Zoey’s delicate and purposeful vocals make her a contender amongst other pop music mavens like Sigrid, Zara Larsson, Billie Eilish and more.”This song is the definition of my music upbringing,” Zoey G explains. “If you took all of the late 90s and early 2000s pop I listened to growing up and put it in a blender, and used that as a frame of reference, this is what that song is. It’s one of my favorites and it’s guaranteed to be stuck in your head.” Her sound and songwriting pay homage to a combination of 80s, 90s and 00s music, as well as classical music. As a child, she would borrow her family’s iPod and listened to whatever music was available. “It was a mix of my dad’s 80s music, my mom’s 80s-90s music and my brother’s late 90s to 2000s pop songs,” she explains.
Produced by Stefan Litrownik and co-produced by Shannon McArthur, “We’re Not Close Anymore” is the second single from Zoey G’s upcoming EP, Runaway. Stay tuned as she continues to release more music throughout 2018.
