Hey Camie! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your new single “Camieland”! How excited are you that this song is finally out into the world?

I am thrilled; This is something I’ve wanted to show the world for a long time, but somehow a part of me felt I wasn’t ready. I kept waiting for the perfect moment, but then I realized there’s never going to be an ideal moment. You just got to do it, and trust your talent and trust yourself.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I hope a part of them can identify with this song, in the sense of getting out of their reality and exploring what their mind and imagination can do. You’d be surprised by the amount of beauty, fun, and magic there is within each one of us; We just have to open up to it and believe it.

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

It is definitely from real experiences. I do this all the time. This place you see in the music video, I’ve seen it without me being physically there, just with my imagination. I can go anywhere. Music plays a massive part in it as well. It makes it easier, depending on the song, I can go into a different time or be a different character. Everything around seizes to exist, and I only see what my mind can see. It’s almost like I’m in a really, really fun trance. I can’t tell you how many movie ideas I’ve come up with just by doing that.

You also have more music coming out in 2020!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you for the rest of the year?!?

Well, Coming up very soon in Mid- October, there’s another song that I will be releasing called “Witch of LA”. This one is going to make you dance and will transport you to other dimensions. To finish off this EP, there will be another song called “Colorblind”, coming out late November. Then next year will be filled with even more new and fun music, so stay tuned.

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

I wrote the first single, “Visitor”, with one of my best friends (and a very talented musician) Andie Sandoval, and my producer/friend Beto Vargas. “Camieland”, I also co-wrote with Beto and the amazing songwriter Justin Ok. They all contributed a ton to these two songs and made then as cool as they are. The last two I pretty much made myself, but couldn’t have done such a fantastic production without Beto Vargas.

What’s it feel like to be releasing your original music?

It feels wonderful! As I said, I’ve been waiting for this forever! I finally felt like I was ready to show the world that I’m not just releasing music, I’m releasing my life. That’s what makes it so special.

You just released the video for the single! Can you tell us about the concept of it?

I wanted people to get a small glimpse of some of the places I like to go to when I go to Camieland. I love nature; there’s something so magical about it. This is why I love to hike and climb mountains and explore the beauty around us. I feel like we often take it for granted. Of course, this is only ONE of the many many places I like to go to.

What’s been the pros and cons of pursuing your music career?

A lot of uncertainty, rejection, and anxiety; that’s the curse of the artist in this industry. But once you understand this is inevitable and is part of the process, you can appreciate that too, because that’s what keeps you motivated. It also makes your character develop even more, and you become so resilient that you become unstoppable. I realize that all I care about is being a storyteller; the rest is not up to me and out of my control. But if you know who you are and your value, things will eventually fall into place and get you very far.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

The list is long here. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by so many people that I love, and that love me / believe in my talent. Starting with my parents and family, I owe them everything. Even though this wasn’t a conventional career and they knew it wasn’t going to be easy, they’ve been supporting and standing by me from the beginning. My boyfriend and all my friends (including my producer Beto) are always rooting for me, encouraging me to keep chasing my dreams, and to never give up.

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

They are creative and are very appreciative of the mystical side of life. They understand the message and can relate to it.

How would you describe your fans? – what’re three words you would use to describe your fans?

Loyal, Creative, and Awake.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

To enjoy themselves, have fun, always stay in touch with the kid inside, and never stop believing.

Are you planning any IG Live shows to promote your new music?

Absolutely! I’m planning on doing a life release party on IG live for the next single release and more live sessions singing some of my songs and some covers.

What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!

I can’t wait! Hopefully, this crazy pandemic will finally settle so that everything can get back to normal and I can start singing live, doing concerts, and eventually touring! It’s going to be a lot of fun!

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

I want them always to be proud of who they are, regardless of what people may think or say, embrace even their flaws, because a lot of times, that’s what makes them unique. I want them always to remember to appreciate the little things and never take anything for granted; your family, friends, and yourself, but most importantly, life!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

I have very peculiar interests, haha! A lot of people don’t know I have a crazy obsession with Dinosaurs. I even wanted to be a paleontologist when I was younger. I love martial arts, and I like to play with nunchucks. I also have a Toy Story collection (talk about not letting go of the kid inside, haha). That’s just naming a few.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Believe.

What do your fans call themselves? And How did that fanbase name catch on?

I will have to get back to you on that one! I still don’t know what they are called, haha.

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you! Have you ever been starstruck?

Totally. I met Reeve Carney after he played at the Troubadour. I love his voice, and I’m a huge fan of Penny Dreadful, so I was starstruck when I met him. Obviously, I tried to play it as cool as possible, so hopefully, he didn’t notice, haha.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

That I’m incredibly grateful for them and appreciate their support dearly.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

I would love to meet and chat with Emma Watson; she’s such an inspiration for so many people and a very talented actress. I get the feeling we would get along very well.

What’s your current go-to song?

I’m always listening to Fleetwood Mac, especially “Rhiannon.” Also, I love “Hallucinate” by Dua Lipa – It’s such a good workout song!

Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?

When used correctly, social media can be a great way to educate and inspire people, share your talents and knowledge, and keep learning from different cultures/styles; it keeps people connected and motivated.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

To keep working on my music and keep chasing acting. I want to finish my script, act in it, and make the music for it. But whatever does or doesn’t happen, I would still be happy because I wake up everyday thanking God. I’m grateful that I am here and surrounded by so much beauty and love. I’m healthy. I have a fantastic family and amazing friends!

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Just keep swimming! Keep exploring, learning, appreciating, loving, believing, and always working on being the best version of yourself.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions 🙂
