A lot of people believe Austin Mahone is the next Justin Bieber, but I have another look on his talent. Both of them did get noticed on YouTube , but it’s not YouTube that got them recognized. It’s their unique voices and talents that got them to where they are today.
In June 2010, Austin posted his first video of himself singing on YouTube with the help of his best friend, Alex Constancio. That was the start of something huge that he never dreamed of. People all over the world started to like his videos and started to request songs for him to sing. His first single “11:11” was released on February 14, 2012. Even though “11:11” isn’t my favorite song by him it is for many people. It’s a song that makes you want to get up and twirl around on the dance floor. The next big break in his career was the release of his hit single “Say Something” on June 5, 2012. Austin signed with his record label, Chase/Universal Republic Records on August 28, 2012, which allowed “Say Something” to be put on iTunes. “Say Something” allowed Austin to get much more recognition for his talent. Many people bought his first single right when it went on sale! From there, Austin started to get nominated for awards. Austin has won 9 awards in his career so far and has been nominated for more than 30. I 2013, he was named MTV’s Artist To Watch. After being named MTV’s Artist To Watch, Austin was chosen to be one of Taylor Swift’s opening acts for her Red Tour. Many of Taylor’s fans became Austin’s fans as well. As the number of fans increased, we came up with a fan base name,MAHOMIES. At this point in his career, Austin has so many fans that he got the opportunity to be the face of Aquafina’s FlavorSplash. Austin has had two headlining tours. The second was definitely bigger than the first. I went to one of his concerts in his second headlining tour. It was definitely an experience I will never forget. When he put his arm around me for our picture together, I literally had a fan girl moment. What I think seperates Austin from the rest of the Pop Stars out there today is that he truly cares about his Mahomies and even though Austin doesn’t have as big a fan base as Justin, I know he will someday. His career is just kicking off and if he keeps up the hard work he will end up being even bigger than Justin ever was. I am honored to call myself a Mahomie and I hope y’all are one as well and if you aren’t I hope my words have made you think of joining our Mahomie family. <3
