March 28, 2024

Hey Lulise 🙂 So excited to be chatting with you! You are gearing up for the release of your debut EP! How excited are you to get this project out into the world?

beyond excited!!! I have been waiting since March to put this music out, it almost didn’t come out at all with everything going on. but, because I know firsthand how powerful music can be, I thought that if my songs can make somebody dance, smile or just relieve some stress for a moment then it’s the perfect time to release it!

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music? And what do you hope they will get from hearing the new songs?

I hope people fall in love with the new upbeat dance sound that I’m exploring. I hope people get a sense of self empowerment from this EP, that it’s OK to get your heart broken, fall in love with the wrong person and still love yourself in the end.

Can you tell us the backstory of the new EP? Is it from a real experience?

This EP reflects my experience as a hopeless romantic who keeps falling for the wrong guys. The irony is that writing these songs finally helped me to fall in love with myself, and that is the healing power of music. In the day and age of Instagram validation, I aim to empower listeners to feel their best by being 100% authentic to themselves. For some of us that means wearing no makeup and for some of us that means wearing ALL the makeup. Whichever you are, this EP is meant for you to feel free to just BE

What does this EP mean to you?

This EP is a love letter to myself. Read my hips, my first single, was the first song i wrote when i knew i wanted to be a solo artist. The body of work that came from that initial inspiration will forever be proof that i can do anything i set my mind to.

Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?!?

Maybe my first music video EVER!? MAYBE!?!? Maybe even 2 🙂 ooo and more music

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It’s exhilarating. My favorite part is reading/seeing people’s reactions to songs that i have been listening to for months. Their excitement makes the music feel brand new all over again.

Will there be a music video for any of your new singles? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video 🙂

Ahh, ok! You’re hearing it here first! YES! Before the pandemic there were big video plans but in quarantine fashion we scaled down to a team of my best friend my manager and i. All i can say is I never thought a DIY video could come out so good! Hints: PINK, PIANO & PETALS.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

My manager Alexandra who has supported me through the highs and lows. I would not be where i am in my career today if it hadn’t been for her undying belief and support.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I hope people feel inspired to embrace themselves fully as they are, the beautiful sides, the embarrassing sides & the raw sides that they don’t post on instagram because they may not be aesthetically pleasing for the algorithm.

Are you planning any IG Live shows to promote your new music?

Are you reading my mind?? stay tuned @iamlulise for dates & times 🙂

What is it like performing in front of your fans?

There’s nothing i miss more than performing. Nothing matches the live electric energy that runs through my veins when an audience is singing my song back to me.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

To care. To care for others, the planet, the future. I truly believe that if we all made more consciously careful decisions toward ourselves, others on every category of the spectrum and the planet, the world would slowly but surely become a better place.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

I have a weakness for freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

That i will proudly be wearing a mask and i hope they are too!!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Alicia Keys. My first inspiration to start singing and embracing my love for R&B. Meeting her would be a dream come true.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

It’s an artist’s personal window to their fans hearts. I love that the fans get to see their favorite artist daily and that artists like myself get to connect to fans even during a pandemic.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

If you would have asked me before the pandemic i would’ve said to be the opening act on a national tour with an artist like Alessia Cara. But now my biggest goal is to have as many people around the world fall in love with my music so that an artist like Alessia, Alicia or Taylor Swift would want to collaborate with me.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Music needs music lovers.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!

Thank you!!! 🙂
